6th May 2014, previous problem with HVAC, Radio, and Nav systems. Marine Chevrolet service department entered some codes and reset the system. Everything was working great until my trip.
11th Aug 2014 0900 left NC to Ohio, (it rained the entire trip and my C7 handled great). Arrived in Ohio 12th Aug 0200, HVAC, Radio, and Nav went out. Check in hotel get back up at 0900, fire my HotRod up and the systems are partially working. 1. AC blowing cold air on medium, (lights are out, can't control air flow). 2. Radio works but I can't control it only volume. 3. Nav black lines are flashing up and down on the screen will not accept directions.
12th Aug, drive to service department at Taylor Chevrolet Lancaster, Oh explain the situation about all of the issues and I let him know I'm on vacation from NC. He looks up and says "I can have it looked at in TWO weeks we are busy" I explained to him again, I'm visiting from NC to attend my nieces wedding and will be here until the 17th Aug. Can you please fit it in to have a service tech reset the codes or something, (AC would not turn off and it was dropping down to 47 degrees at night). I even asked if he could fit me anytime during the week while I was here. He says we are too busy come back in two weeks. I'm not getting into a pissing contest with anybody! Adapt and overcome jump in the C7 and head to Jeff Wyler Chevrolet, Columbus, Oh. it was only 15 miles up the road. Explain the entire situation again to the service rep and he is willing to help, he sets up an appointment for 0830 on the 14th Aug,
14th Aug, 0830 arrive at Jeff Wyler Chevrolet service department they take it in right away. I watched them through the glass in the waiting room working on my Vette, it's was funny watching the service tech, instead of using tools "old school", he had one wire hooked up to the C7 computer running to his laptop on the bench. This is what they performed: Scan test and diagnosis. Was unable to duplicate customers concern and found all working at this time. Did find a programming update for the IPC/ICS/Radio. Programmed Radio and IPC with updates and rechecked systems. OK at this time. Claim code:66b72. S2D56. 80ABC I left the service department at 1200 and everything was working great what a relief!! Two hours down the road the entire system goes out again!! I call back and talk with the service rep again and he says bring it back in tomorrow. I'm thinking that it needs to be replaced and re-setting codes will not work, I'm not wasting what little time I have left visiting family sitting in a waiting room. I'll wait until I return to NC.
21st Aug, 1630 arrive at Marine Chevrolet, Jacksonville, NC. Explain the situation to the service rep and he pulls up the history on my C7 and says you've had a time with your Vette. I asked him to call GM or the techs at BG instead of re-setting codes. He says no problem with the history that you have. Here is there write-up: The Radio, HVAC control was defective, unable to communicate with it, multiple code set. MSM B285A 4B, HVAC U1510 00 and HMIC module code B127E 00. Scan, unable to communicate with the Radio HVAC control module. Remove the Radio HVAC control to gain access to the connector. Inspect the power and ground at the connector as well as the lin buss data circuit at terminal 2 and 3 of the Radio HVAC control connector, all were good. Test the lin buss circuit for short to ground and open as well as short to voltage, it was normal as well. Called tech assist Case#71-1346492783 and was asked to replace the Radio, HVAC control. Replace the control assembly and clear codes, also replace the left A pillar trim due to having some scratches on it. (I would have spotted that).

I'm back to wheeling my C7 masterpiece and it feels grrrrrreat!! Like Tony the Tiger would say. At least Jeff Wyler Chevrolet tried to help me out, Taylor Chevrolet was a BIG disappointment to say the least, and Marine Chevrolet "Outstanding"!!! We had a blast visiting family in Ohio, froze in the Vette when the temp dropped at night. I thought about pulling a fuze to shut off the fan motor but I didn't want to burn up anything in the AC system. I driven this route 650 miles one way for the last 30 years and my C7 by far is the best dam vehicle anybody could desire for a trip. (Renee says it rides great, easy on the "six").
