A dealer (San Jose, CA) just informed me that there will be no more Z51's allocated in 2014 and you would have to wait and order a 2015 model.

I'm currently at 1100 and have a order number for my Z51 but now am wondering if I can expect my order to be fulfilled or if they are going to come back to me and tell me to either go with another non-Z51 2014 model or wait until 2015's become available.

Note, I got this info from another dealer and not the dealer I placed the order with as the original dealer is not communicating with me ;(

Anyone else heard of this or is the dealer misinformed?

Thanks,

I would call a big BS on this one. The last constraint report we saw posted here had Z51 at 50% and I would think it's unlikely that number will go down vs. up. What he probably means to say is HE doesn't think he can get a Z51 allocation slot for whatever allocations he has left in 2014. That's a hell of a lot different than no more Z51's.

Were you using Courtesy in San Jose? I have heard negative things about them. Get a different dealership. Other dealerships will be able to get a Z51 for you.

Yep, thats the one (Courtesy).

I already have a pre-order in but no movement or communications from dealer so reaching out to other lots to see what they have on the floor and or what allocations they have left.

Search the internet. Use cars.com or autotrader.com to find the vehicle you want. I placed an order with a local dealer but ended up canceling the order when I found a similar vehicle online. You'll be surprised how many Z51s are out there.

That's a bunch of BS. Sounds like what he meant to say is the dealership is out of allocations. Time to change dealerships.

I have an order through Courtesy Chevy and my Z51 TPW is next week. They told me the same thing the last time I went in there, they are no longer taking Z51 orders. They are talking about their own allocation. Depending on what your own dealer has told you about their own allocation, you're probably fine.

Are they adding surcharges on ordered cars Topgun54? I ordered our Z51 2LT the 2nd week of November and it still has not moved from the dealer. No Z-51 allocations.

Our dealership in South Florida is considering not taking any more deposits as we have been over run the past week with deposits for 2014's. We have already taken 5 deposits for the 2015 Z06 C7, one being for the Z06.R even though delivery isn't till January2015.

On another note, we took in a 2014 1LT non Z with 1768 miles and sold it the next day. 1st owner had back issues and bought a new Impala.

We were told yesterday when our dealer looked at his allocation and constraints report, that they had one allocation for a Z51 that matched our build. Tuesday when GM picks up the orders ours should go to 2000.

Gregb,

I was at Courtesy last week too and they tried to push the non Z51 they had on the lot on me. They were also asking for $10K over MSRP for it.

Claimed it would take the entire year to get a Z51 in. When I wouldn't budge and asked them to build one out anyway, suddenly they were asking for a deposit and saying it would only take 6 months. In any case I didn't like how I was treated and ended up at Boardwalk this weekend and placed a deposit with them.

Kurbeck Corvette is currently offering $2,500 off MSRP on most models which paid for my shipping fees.

I placed a pre-order 6 weeks ago with my local dealer not knowing what I do now thanks to this forum which has helped educate me on how the allocations system works (as stupid as it is). Turns out I was finally able to get my dealer to admit that my car would not be delivered for "~7 months" due to limited dealer allocations. Another forum member suggested looking into a big lot dealer who have inventory on their lots and having it shipped. Duh!! Not sure why this didn't occur to me but wanted to let folks know that Kurbeck is offering a discount which completely paid for my shipping from the east coat to the west coat.

Granted I did not get a Z51 but I couldn't wait ;) Thanks for the insight folks and i'm thrilled to say my Stringray on my front door in 2 weeks!

Back to thread title: "No more Z-51's Available In 2014?"

There will be thousands more Z-51's produced this model year with about half still be even be ordered. The big dealers with lots of allocation are still placing Z-51 orders, and will have 2014 Z-51's delivered. Probably also true for medium-size-allocation dealers too. Smaller dealers who placed orders with Z-51 a while ago will not all be shut out.

Let's confirm that there will be many more 2014 Z-51's with some basic arithmetic.

GM expected 50% of 2014 Stingrays would be Z-51's.
GM expected that they would produce at least 25,000 2014 StingRays.
Ergo, GM expected to produce 12,500 Z-51 2014 StingRays.

Even if GM has already produced 12,500 StingRays with a Z-51 production rate of 65% -- which I am sure is way too high of a Z-51 production rate due to months of constraints, but even at that rate, GM has only produced 8,125 Z-51 equipped StingRays. Putting all these numbers together, and again I will argue that the actual Z-51 production rate so far this year is much closer to 55 % (maybe even lower than that), but even using the 65% rate, GM will still produce at least another 4,375 more Z-51's this year. And if the actual Z-51 production rate has been 55% to date, GM will produce another 5,875 more 2014 Corvettes with the Z-51 package.

Sure, many of these have already been "spoken for," with previously placed orders from dealers who have allocation. However, the top allocation dealers are still accepting orders for 2014 StingRays with the Z-51 package.

Actually, I would argue that most, if not all of the pent up Z51 pre orders are filled. Sure there are some still waiting but for at least the last month and a half the large dealers have been ordering Z51's for stock, meaning they have no pending orders.

My guess is there are fewer than 500 Z51 orders pending at low volume dealers. Perhaps there are a lot more pendings when you consider the FAY and other constraints but the truth is, unless you want group of options that are all constrained the only reason you aren't either driving your Z51 or waiting for it to be delivered is your choice of dealers.
