I am right there with you. Other than the pin stripe on the OEM wheels RedHot is pure and just the way I like it

Does anyone but me like their car the way it came? Stock. Pure.
It is getting more and more that way and my mods are always "performance" related not visual in nature. This is my fourth vette and will probably have only one or two mods (skip shift and MGW shifter).

I never look at any car as "pure". A bunch of designers decided to go one way and I go another. I do not hold them in awe, as some others do. Whatever you like is fine with me. But every mod on my car is thought about and passes for what an OEM designer could have done.and what i think makes it look better.

I was ripping off the chrome fish in the parking lot on delivery, conti was flabbergasted....and that night i had the retainer strip covered in black vinyl.

We all have diff ideas of what looks good, no one should ever get defensive on the way they like their car looks, because as said here 100 times a day "if you like it thats all that matters"

Some of the mods I've seen owners add to their car have ended up as OEM items such as darkened badges. I think even the designers find them attractive, take note of these changes and add them as options later because they're so popular. I like subtle changes that are not obvious. Major changes don't appeal to me.

Nice things about the Corvette hobby is that we have NCRS on one hand, and wild customs on the other, folks who mod for power, and others who only do visual changes. I love that each of our Corvettes is our own. Yes, a cliche, but we each choose what we want and do not.

Conversations like these actually cause me to chuckle. Even a factory assembled Corvette isn't completely "pure." Maybe the purists have failed to notice the plethora of options for customizing a factory assembled Corvette to one's own liking. LOL How is that any different than customizing your Corvette with parts from a vendor that develops parts and accessories outside of GM? ;)

Our car is going to be stock (the way we had it built of course, in deference to Jeremy's comment above) with only the CAGS (skip shift eliminator) added to the engine, and the training wheels ;) and curb alert added to the front/bottom so we don't scrape up the low nose.

Besides that, it'll look just like the 'stock' avatar I originally added when they came out with the 2014 promo pics! Won't even bother changing my avatar probably.

It's true we have the opportunity to customize our cars through factory options to our liking, however the car remains stock (Numbers Matching) with all the various OEM options..... As soon as an aftermarket part is installed on or in the car, from a purist stand point, the car is no longer stock or numbers matching..... Just the way I've always understood it. As far as the "Catch Can Systems" or "Curb Alerts" are concerned, those items can be easily removed and won't affect any factory numbers or purity of the vehicle...

I bought my car for My enjoyment, both visually and mechanically. I really don't take future potential owners likes into consideration since I'm the one paying for it now. I plan on keeping mine for a really long time as at this point in my life I have no intentions on selling it. Of course since none of us knows if we will even get our next breath, or what the future has in store that could always change. It's kind of hard to improve on the beauty or power of the car anyway, so all of my mods have pretty much been underhood visuals. I want her to be as good looking under the hood as she is with it shut. As long as you are footing the bill, there is no wrong way of doing your car.

To Glen's point, design decisions are made and what gets delivered is an amalgamation of those decisions. Take the case of Ben's custom hood, diffuser, side skirts and splitter. When the chief engineer for the corvette saw it he wasn't aghast, he really liked it and went out of his way to let Ben know that.

The "purist" and "numbers matching" crowd make me chuckle. Unless you are in your 20's now and plan on keeping the car well into your 50's or 60's you will never live to see the benefit.

Me, I don't plan on owning the car outside of factory warranty so whatever I do will maintain that and hopefully get me a respectable return on the car when I sell it for something new in 2016 or 2017.

LOL perhaps we can get a list together of mods that are "allowed", while the car still remains pure....

There is a guy on the other site that EVERY time somebody post a mod , he quickly follows with "my car is stock and I like it that way" , as if he's threatened… It's funny because I don't believe anybody's going to sneak into his driveway and mod his car against his will… Never really understood these type of posts....

Even if the first guy and the last guy both bought plain Jane cars they would boy be different. How many changes has GM done to the car over its year long build cycle?

A little double entendre there, glen e?

Had to chuckle at your removal of the chrome stingray emblem in the dealer's lot. Was at a car show yesterday with a new Stingray and Chevy product specialist. A young guy approached stating he worked for a detailing company and had done several new Corvettes. He asked why Chevy put a guitar on the fender. The Chevy rep said "it's a Stingray". The guy seemed super confused, so they Chevy rep said "because this is a Stingray". The guy said "no, it's a Corvette and that badge is stupid".

Young folks....

One of the reason mine remains stock is that I don't have a good design eye. I enjoy seeing what other do and appreciate their talents, but I don't have an artistic bone in my body, can't even draw stick figures!

I am glad to see others mods as well as the stock cars so keep all the pictures coming. Land vehicle Vehicle Car Sports car Motor vehicle

Here's my favorite picture of my baby.

Ps thanks Glen for info on how to make it shine!
