At the request of several of you... This will get all of the issues together in one location and allow other owners and would be owners to learn about the issues that owners are experiencing or discovering.

What's allowed:

Factual accounts of issues you encounter as a real owner of a real car. Provide as much detail, pictures, and documentation as you are able to talk about the issue.

Factual accounts or updates regarding resolution of issues that you or your dealer provided to solve a problem with your Stingray. If you solve a problem and post a separate update, please edit your original post that it was resolved and reference the post with the update if possible.

What's not allowed (This will be strictly enforced):

Anecdotal comments about first year models.
Comments about other model year Corvettes (even if they may relate to current equipment.)
Stories or issues you read about on other forums.
Posting about a problem "your friend" had with their car.
Posting that "your car is fine" or "I didn't have that problem."

The intent of this thread is to collect data and provide information for people who own a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hopefully we will see both problems and resolutions and allow a place for folks to learn how to deal with issues that they encounter. If you can provide content information (equipment group, options, etc.) about your car that would be welcome. If you can provide photos of the issue or video of the behavior, that would be welcome. If are willing to post your VIN number, that would be helpful so that others with VIN's in a nearby range can relate.

Let's see if we can keep this thread on topic and make it a useful place for new and would be owners to learn what is going on.

Dang, that has to be painful to endure.

But I'm sure she'll come out better than new!

They showed me the test page and where the Valve Body failed. Two folks from Bowling Green are the ones who diagnosed the problem. I'm told it was the valve body. They do not want to use the same gasket, but there are no new gaskets available. Hubby called GM in BG and said they obviously have them if they're still building, but they were little help.

I don't think they'd minimize the problem. At least I got the windshield replaced already. (original was defective)

There was a bubble in the upper left tinted part of the windshield. Looked terrible. Personally, I think QC should have picked up on that. I have photo of it, but it's hard to see with the glare.

The good news is I picked up my 1st ever Corvette (CYBER GREY, 2LT, NON Z51, NPP, NAV, 6SP AUTO) from the dealership on 2/28 after initially placing my order on 1/17. Drove it straight from the dealership to a detail shop about 60 miles away to put XPEL PPF on the front end along with getting some other cosmetic word done to it. On 3/7 I was able to pick it up and finally take it home to enjoy! I drove it all weekend putting about 330 miles on it and loved every mile of it!! Now the bad news, last night while driving home from getting something to eat I noticed the malfunction indicator lamp was on. When I got home I got on here and another forum to see if this had happen to anyone else with no such luck. I went to my garage and called OnStar with the car engine running to see if they could run a diagnostic and tell me what they found. The lady ran the diagnostic and told me that there was a malfunction with the cooling fan system and power train system. At that time I got a warning on my dash telling me that the engine was overheating and to turn it off.
With only 398 miles on it I was still in the process of "breaking in" the engine so I have been mindful not to exceed 4500 rpms and avoid any excessive acceleration. Looking back now I have noticed on different occcastions the engine seemed to give off a little heat when I walked by the front on my way inside the house with a slight smell of oil but I thought this was natural considering I had just taken it for an hour long drive. I should state that I know little to nothing about engines so please excuse my ignorance when it comes to engines and thinking that that might be a normal feel or smell. One thing that I did that I found a bit odd was when I was had it in my garage and I was showing a friend of mine the car early that day, I turned on the car and rev'd up the engine a few times using my hand (I was in my dirty work close and didn't want to sit on the seats to use my foot) so I couldn't see the RPMs. While doing this I gave it a good rev and the engine just cut off and I have no idea why or if that might be related to the problem im not experiencing????
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this or have an idea of what it could be? I had it loaded on a flatbed this morning and delivered to a local dealership to have them take a look at it bc I didn't want to risk driving it and potentially doing more damage to the engine. I am currently waiting for the dealership to call me. I will update this post as this issue gets addressed and resolved by the dealership.

Here's an issue I'm having with the SD card. I cannot advance or go back to the next song unless my music is playing from an album. If I'm playing an individual song I cannot advance or reverse to the next songs. Shuffle will only work if I'm playing from an album but will not go to to a different artist unless I manually get it through the screen. I play the card on my home computer and it plays perfectly.Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks,
booie

After it shut down from reving it, I didn't notice any warning lights or anything indicating something was wrong. The dash looked exactly as it would when shutting it off normally. I did not try and restart it bc I had to get back to work (was on my lunch break). After I got home from work about an hour later I did start it right up and drive it to run some quick errands and never noticed the malfunction indicator lamp light. it wasn't until later in the evening that I noticed that warning light was on. As far as oil on the ground there was none to indicate it was leaking.

just got off the phone with the dealership and from what he said it looked like the cooling fan shorted out and was no longer working. he couldn't give me an explanation as to why it shorted out. good news is they ordered another cooling fan and it should be fixed tomorrow! hopefully that will be the end of that and I can get back to enjoying this car with no other issues down the road!

Trans Valve Body Update. We finally received the parts for the trans (new valve body and gasket). Mechanic drove it approx 10 miles w/o issue. Whew! The windshield did not come in - we're waiting. I drove the car 1 mile to Enterprise to return the rental and someone backed into my C7! I can't believe it! Today it's going in for the repair. Will take 3 to 4 days. Fortunately, damage was negligible. Steel car's bumper touched the C7's black bumper just to the left of the lic plate. 1 very small dent and some paint chip.

Luck? What's that?

#106 ·
No. There was no difference before the trans went out or after they fixed it. It has so few miles on it that I have not punched it. Just babying her along. Paddle shifting is fine, automatic is fine. Still fearful of "things" happening or going to happen, but I suppose I'll get over that. First car show it this Saturday.

I too have had similar problems as described by GSAFREE's (Gary's) posting on 01/08/2014. Drove the car 2900 miles with no issues...until now. Brought car in for servicing and they updated the software for the RADIO, BCM, IPC (USB & SPS). After updating software, the car returned to normal operation with all systems fully functional. My question is, why did the car function just fine until now. I suspect that the FLASH memory that contains the software became corrupted and had to be re-programmed. Very suspicious.

The updated software consisted of: RADIO-805D4, BCM-S196E, USB IPC-6000A and SPS IPC-6023C. I suspect that these are revision codes for each piece of software/firmware.

My problems included:
1) Lower steering wheel audio control inoperable (FAV+, FAV-, VOL+ and VOL-).
2) USB playback had very short audio cut out, almost like stuttering every half second.
3) Bluetooth music playback audio also cut out in a similar fashion as USB playback.
4) Pausing USB playback and then turning up the volume produced a slight thumping/clicking pattern of sounds.
5) Radio would play for 3-4 minutes then cut out for 8 seconds, sometimes rebooting with the Corvette logo momentarily appearing.
6) Voice recognition inoperable ("voice command not available" text message, woman's response voice no longer worked).
7) Audio center console controls (vol dial, select dial, etc...) would periodically freeze or produce a delayed response, like the processor was overloaded / busy.
8) Bluetooth phone calls inoperable.

Problems are fixed for now, but I suspect that they will return due to FLASH corruption again. <-- This is my theory, NOT based upon fact.

Other than that, I L-O-V-E the car! Best and most comfortable car I've ever owned. Yes, I'm your typical 56 year old with little hair. Baseball cap works great though!

Tom; I am a bit confused with your post. Are you saying that your car was fine before the re-flash and now has the problems indicated, or at some point following the re-flash you had these problems? I did not understand this statement;"After updating software, the car returned to normal operation with all systems fully functional."

#111 ·
Chip,

No to both of your questions.

The car functioned perfectly until 2900 miles (5 months of driving), at which time, the car mal-functioned as described in the "My problems included:" list, in previous post. I then brought the car in for servicing, of which they reprogrammed the software/firmware (RADIO-805D4, BCM-S196E, USB IPC-6000A and SPS IPC-6023C). When the car was returned to me, the car functioned perfectly again. So the question is, why did it all of a sudden mal-function after 2900 miles? That is why I suspect that the software/firmware contained in the FLASH memory became corrupted.

anyone having volume issues with audio system? all functions work, AM, FM, Blue tooth. Can not get any sound from the xm system, appears to be ON as I can change channels, the vol control bar at the bottom of screen goes up and down but no sound. This is the second time its happened.last time the car sat for a few hours and worked after startup. This time I stopped the car and restarted, no difference. Car has been stopped for about 5 hours, when I get off work I'll check again.

Thanks for any help

My name is John & I am a new brand new member. I took delivery of my C7 in October and it now has 2800 miles on it. I was driving it recently (daytime) when I encountered a sever thunderstorm and my dash lights dimmed to the point I could not read my speed. I moved the light selector switch from AUTO to the headlights full on position and the lights remained dim. When I drive the car into my garage (switch back in AUTO position) my daylight running lights are on and as I near my front wall, the headlights come full on but my dash lights dim just like in the thunderstorm. I think this is a potentially dangerous problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

OIL LEAK NEAR RADIATOR
Just noticed oil on my garage floor. Coming from passenger side. Looks like it's maybe coming from a hose connected to the radiator. Does the transmission fluid get cooled in the radiator? Oil doesn't look pink. Will call dealer tomorrow. definite puddle on the floor. First issue I've had. 1200 miles on the car.

#124 ·
Are you talking about the front or rear of your car? The passenger side rear is the differential cooler. The transmission cooler is on the rear driver's side (I think I got that straight).

Serpentine belts tensioners have been having problems. Search the forum for that issue. Many others have had the issue. I think it is possible that that may be your issue. Yes, it does discharge some fluid.
