It has absolutely nothing to do with the UAW, giving employees a break or not. It is how the original design of the driver focused Z06 interior was supposed to be, and how the early Z06's were built. After seeing initial Z06's with the passenger armrest not being the same color as the driver's armrest, they decided that it was a bad idea.

It is my understanding that "Driver Focused Interior" means no red for the passenger! On the Z06, the interior color choice only wraps around driver space and the passenger sits in the black space that GM has provided.

How about if we, as a forum, stop initially jumping to the conclusion that there when there is a mistake, that it was employee caused.
That's great to hear! I never understood it and I'm really glad that they've changed their minds.

I wish they would change their minds on the Z06 about the dash in front of the passenger, too...

I wonder how many folks on these threads have driven other elite super cars? I've driven so many different kinds I've lost count of them all. Many others are way worse than this iteration of the Stingray. For example; I can tell you that the dash and windshield set up on 911's remind me of the VW Bug my Dad had in the 70's. His 911T had so many problems cockpit wise. And still today, there's issues. So, with all brands vying for your dollars there will be things one likes and others don't. This new Stingray specifically is silly beautiful. I can't wait to start the process. Unfortunately, I think it will be 2016 for me.

John. Sorry about the confusion. The way the issue was posed made me think it was not ordered that's way. So I learned something. And my z51 is free from any flaws so no complaints from me, However that interior is a bit bizarre, I had a 84 vette with a red interior and it was much more attractive than the one shown, So it goes,,, Tbob

John is absolutely correct. (No surprise here!)

How they come up with this umm, ah, err "stuff" is beyond me. At least they came to their senses and decided to make the freaking armrests the same color! Agreed with the post about also doing the passenger side dash. And if they lose the clear taillights I would not shed a tear.

It's like they don't know that they can call me for my opinion!

I sure did not like the door different armrest colors when I started seeing the Z06 in January, and haven't seen one "fixed yet." I do have an August 29th e mail from Chief Interior Designer Ryan Vaughan saying,

That [Z06] showcar is an early build..... The production versions will have the passenger armrest match the other armrest. So, in your case, a 3LZ dark grey interior will have a dark grey passenger armrest with the rest of the door in black w/ gray accent stitching.
Hope this eases concern about the armrests.

People concerned about the passenger side dash color can always get that piece dyed from a local upholstery shop color matched of their choice. I saw someone on instagram change up the whole interior of a stingray to make it look like a 3LT interior.

Derik; That seems to answer what is indicated by the picture, but I wonder if in a black interior both sides will be the same?
