Its an alarm feature that activates if someone reaches into the car - uses infrared I believe.

Not quite, it kills the system that is on by default for when you leave a dog in the car, etc....

That button is used to deactivate the intrusion and inclination sensors if pets or people are left in the vehicle while it is locked or the vehicle is being transported.

Yes, it deactivates the feature. I was more interested in the tech, which apparently uses a set of infrared motion sensors.
