I'm looking at a C7 that has this optional roof panel: ROOF PANEL, VISIBLE CARBON FIBER WITH BODY-COLOR SURROUND, REMOVABLE (C2Z)

Is this a see through panel? I'm thinking it's non see through dark black. I really don't want any sun coming through

Can anyone who has this roof comment on it?

This C2Z is NOT see-through. It is black carbon fiber. The "visible" part of the name means you can see the carbon fiber weave; the majority of the roof for C2Z is not painted. Instead of saying "visible" they really should have said "exposed".

However, there are two little stripes on the side of the roof which are painted the same color as the car. Look at a few pictures and you will eventually see what I am talking about.

No the visible carbon fiber panel is not transparent, it does not allow light through. The same is true for the standard carbon fiber panel. The difference between the two is that the 'visible' carbon fiber has been built to show off the carbon fiber which is laid so it looks very good and orderly. The standard carbon fiber panel weighs the same as the 'visible' but is painted the same color as the external body color of the C7. The third panel option is the transparent panel, as the name implies it allows you to both see in from the outside and see out through the inside creating a very nice open cabin effect. The confusion to some comes from the fact that both the 'visible' carbon fiber (which does not allow any light transmission) and the transparent panel look almost identical (both look almost black) from about 3 or 4 foot or more away except for the 'visible' carbon fiber panel has the side spears painted body color while the transparent panel is totally black in appearance from 3 or 4 foot away.

Like I mentioned from 3 or so feet the 'visible' carbon fiber and the transparent both look almost black and very nice, as if a continuation of the rear window. Closer than 3 feet and you can see the carbon fiber in the visible panel and it looks as you would expect- just like a carefully built exposed carbon fiber panel.

OK, thanks. I think it will be OK.
Any opinions on how it looks?
That is subjective. :)

I am personally not a fan of the body-colored spears on each side. I would like it more if the whole roof were exposed carbon fiber (all black). To each his own...
