Sat down with dealer about 10 weeks ago , shared with him that I would have a GM friends and family discount.
Car comes in today, tells me to shoot over the code and then responds that we only honor GM family discounts, not friends or suppliers.

Unreal, play this waiting game this long. Tempted to anti up the additional 5k, but this comes back to principals.

I am patient so now I need another dealer who will allow these discounts and I will do a courtesy delivery to his dealership.

Can someone help me with a good dealer that won't play these games???

Thanks

I have a major issue with this type of last minute crap. The dealer nets EXACTLY the same amount of profit whether it's an Employee (family) deal or a Supplier (Friends) deal, DOWN TO THE PENNY!!!!!!!!

Do you have anything in writing on your order such as "Will honor any program pricing in effect at the time of delivery"?

He is just using this as an excuse because he's become greedy between your order and your delivery. Perhaps more people have come in looking for a C7 than he anticipated?

I know it would have to be one of the toughest things you could do but I would punt the deal and tell the dealer he's not only lost your sale but your service business for life! Then I would call one of the Forum dealers and order another one.

Are you sure you wish to have your courtesy delivery done there? Maybe it might be worth looking around for a new dealership for all your needs.

I really hate car dealerships, they have been playing this same game for 25 years.
I was buying my wife a new car in the next 6 months, he will not get any of that business as well.
Also have 5 kids that will be avoiding him in the future

You might want to remind them of that.

I suppose. If its a legit discount, I am having trouble determining what the dealer's motive could be. Are they threatening to keep the deposit? Does Chev Customer Care get involved in things like this?

Uhhhh, email him the link to this thread. Then ask if he wants his name and name of dealership included here for some 'free advertising'.

The motive is to sell at MSRP (or whatever price they can get) instead of at the discounted price.

CCC cannot force dealerships to honor supplier pricing. It is at the dealership's discretion.

mjw930 said the discount doesn't affect dealer profit.
No, he did not. He said that the "dealer nets EXACTLY the same amount of profit whether it's an Employee (family) deal or a Supplier (Friends) deal, DOWN TO THE PENNY!!!!!!!!"

Mark is, of course, correct about this.

However, it does affect profit when considering if the supplier (or family) deal is accepted, or not.

Ok Got that. Thanks. (note positive statement) I was under the impression GM swallowed the discount not the dealer. If there was agreement for the discount (oral or in writing), then it sounds like a suit for specific performance.

Yes, let us hope that the original poster can persuade the dealership to follow through on the contract to order with the discounted program.

Otherwise, the OP has been harmed (loss of time) even if he gets every penny of his deposit back.

Depending on how much the OP has in a written contract, there could be a lawsuit there, if he so chose to go down that path. But it is probably not worth the time and trouble, I would guess.

I just hope it all works out as the best for him, one way or another!

Mark is the expert in this area, so hopefully he can answer.

My understanding is the dealer swallows the discount, but he does get credit toward his allocation for the sale.
