Hey all

So I was cleaning my stingray last night and in the light noticed some discolor in the paint of the removable roof panel. I will try to get some pics but it look like specs of gray and black dots, almost like a haze. area is probably and inch by an inch which I know is not much. lol I'm a bit anal as most corvette owners are. Anyone have any experience with paint issues and warranty? Does warranty cover something like this? I've had the car for a week or so and just hit 700 miles. Any help or suggestions are appreciated and now it's not dirty lol, tried cleaning it.

if it's underneath the clear, its probably warranty, it it's on top/embedded in the clear, it might not be warranty and considered environmental pollution...

take it in soon....

I presume you are talking about the body colored carbon fiber roof panel? If there is an issue with the finish take it back to your dealer to handle under warranty.

Nicholoso,

I understand the displeasure when dealing with paint concerns. While I realize you're seeking opinions from others, if you feel an official GM diagnosis is necessary, I'd be happy to communicate your sentiments with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at your preferred GM dealer. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you'd like to proceed, or if you simply want your experience(s) officially documented.

Keep in mind, GM can't do much other than have a certified body shop try and fix it. I have a run on my roof panel, and other paint imperfections from factory and there is nothing I can do. I'm not having GM respray my car. But we should be compensated in some way.

Ya if they want a body shop to repaint I don't think I will bother. I would be afraid it would make matters worse. I would prefer they sent a new top and took this one back but that's in a perfect world. Additionally, upon delivery I noticed a chip in the seam where the back bumper meets the side fender. Was a bit disappointed, not just a brand new car, but in my opinion a high end car.

I agree. Push for new top. Mine is actually that strip between the top and trunk lid. No replacing that. Or at least wouldn't want them to. Also have dark indentation in rear lid, and other finish issues. Is what it is I guess. Shouldn't be though

I agree. Also fear when taking to a body shop even if they were to warranty it there always seems to be an issue. Whether poor paint work or things not lining up properly, etc.

Its hard to tell by the photo how topical the blemish is. White is pretty forgiving when it comes to paint correction. I would think that a surface blemish should be correctable without having to re-spray the top. Think positively and let your dealer have a crack at it. If it requires aggressive paint cutting and re-spaying then you may want to consider what your options are.
I hope you get the issue resolved soon!
