Nothing too special required. Just check whatever soap or wheel cleaner you use is safe for painted wheels. That’s likely to be the case and is clearly marked on most of these products. Aside from that, the best thing you could do is get them clean, decontaminated and then ceramic coat them. Or at least use one of the even easier to apply SiO2 coatings. That will make future cleaning much much easier for years. Once the wheel is coated, you’ll pretty much just be able to use the same soap you clean the car with without the need for any special cleaners. As far as tools especially for the barrels, get yourself a “speed master wheel brush” or something like it. That easily gets in around the barrel calipers etc.
It’s a labor of love but there’s nothing like a clean ride 😁
I put nothing on these wheels, no detail anything, no preservatives, just wipe them down with a damp MF rag.
5+ years, 51K miles, they're holding up well cosmetically, now the cracked wheel situation is another story.
