Picked her up on 14th at NCM. I've spray washed her three or four times. Today was the big day to go to the car wash (due to drought it's illegal to do at home) with all my supplies and wash her by hand. Start by blasting the heavy stuff off with sprayer and see a nice (say 2mm) chip in the hood. Uugghh. I never had any chips like that on my last 3 Corvettes since mid 90's. It almost looks like it flaked off "too easy". So, that sucks but move on to wash her. F'in soap is still at home. Dang it!! Not our day.

Anyhow, never got to even wash her before an ugly chip and had to go home with a half a$$ clean car.

Honeymoon is over. The next paint flaw won't be as painful. Par for the course.

The first is always the worst. Now that it's christened and you can obsess on how great it drives instead of how perfect the finish is.

Absolutely. Coming from several silver cars it will take some getting used to.

Hey guys, that is so true. My ZR1 was flawless when I got it 1 yr. old but a week after, it was decorated with a couple of chips. ahhh!!
I have noticed that the last few Vettes that have come into my dealers are orange peel free. Looks like they may have fixed the problem they were having earliet this year. What say you?

I'm sorry about your paint chips.

Thank you for the information about seeing new Corvettes at your local dealer which did not show orange peel. That is great news, indeed! I hope they all will get more under control now.

I got my first chip a few weeks ago on a fun car club cruise. The first one hurts a lot but sharing a great day cruising with friends was worth it. Life is short and at the end of the day it's just a car. The time spent with friends is what really matters. ;)
