Well, Plan A was to wait for an inheritance to materialize, and place my order. Well, since the primary asset in the decedent's estate was an illiquid family farm, and the hoped for buyer is unwilling to buy it all, it is apparent that settling the estate will take years.

So, we shift to Plan B. Took some money out of my retirement account, opened an account at a credit union, and applied for a car loan this morning. It was approved in four hours. If some inheritance money shows up in the mail, it goes toward paying off the loan. Credit union pricing is saving me about 9% off of MSRP.

And tomorrow morning I head for MacMulkin, which is 100 miles from me, to place an order at credit union/supplier prices.

Ordering a 2LT Z51 convertible, Night Race Blue with Jet Black interior, mag ride, 8AT, red calipers and carbon flash badges. And, after much agonizing, the PDR and NAV. Hoping for the best on the last. I am going with the silver Z51 wheels, which I plan to get powder coated black. I will also get, from a separate vendor, some machine face black Cray Brickyards on which I will put some Continental Ultra High Performance all season ExtremeContact DWS tires, so I can get some use from the car in sub freezing temperatures.

Its been a little over two months since I joined this site, and have learned much from participating here. And the pictures posted here were a great help. I must have changed my choices of colors four times since joining Stingrayforums. Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge and experiences. It has been an invaluable resource for getting my order right the first time (I hope!)

Rob, now don't change your mind on your options, 100 miles can turn into a long drive!! Be safe tomorrow and get the best dam deal you can pull and let Tommy know at MacMulkin that this forum has helped him sell a lot of C7's. Like I've always thought, it's not the vehicle I'm worried about, it's the deal and customer service afterwards.

I say congrats to you...

But in the same vein, is there a reason you feel compelled to drive 100 miles to place your order? We live 3,100 miles from MacMulkin and we've got our order at supplier pricing handled all via email and phone calls. Just a thought...

It will give me one last chance to see the colors with the naked eye, and maybe make a last minute change. We are having a wonderful week of late summer/early Autumn weather around here this week, and I have a nice two lane route planned. Unfortunately, it will be in a 2009 VW Jetta TDI, but that car actually handles pretty nicely for what it is.

MacMulkin is the closest place around that has an inventory of cars to actually look at. The other Chevy dealers around here specialize in Silverados, Impalas, and Cruzes.

Check the interiors too Rob. I live in 4X4 country and since the introduction of the C7, I had only seen a grand total of 2 sitting still that I could walk up to and inspect. Both were red with black interior. Was pretty sure of exterior color when we made the trip to Chriswell, who had 20 in stock, but made an unexpected last minute interior color change once we saw them in person.

Actually, if anything gets changed, it will be the interior. I have vacillated between the black and the gray perforated leather for the interior.

:D I was dead set on gray. Switched to black at the very last second!

Come on Suzy, When you're retired and your choices are wake up and watch Oprah reruns or drive over and purchase a new C7. No comparison! :D
LOL! Sorry, a nice two-lane road I can agree on then. Around here, its all traffic traffic traffic in the weekdays, so unless I can escape to a two-lane road, I'm staying put! ;)

And needing to look at colors is a GREAT reason to go. Sounded like you were set on your choices in the first post though.

Grey is nice but gets dirty easily (from the ones I've seen of guys in our group).

Whatever you pick will be awesome! Have fun!

Cheers,
It is ordered!!! No changes made. Night Race Blue 2015 2LT Z51 Convertible with Mag ride, 8AT, PDR/NAV, CF badges, red calipers, silver wheels. On my way home, I stopped by my local wheel refinisher, and will have those silver wheels refinished in black gloss powder coat. Selected a black soft top. After looking at the gray interior and the black interior, stayed with the black. The gray is too light, and, in both my and my salesman's opinions, would show dirt easily.

Out of curiosity, I asked if any body had opted for the $5000 self selected VIN. They could not recall any.

Tell me that their best estimate for arrival at MacMulkin is mid November. And when it arrives, I will get Xpel Ultimate. They have a detailer come in and install it at MacMulkin.

I feel like I passed a kidney stone. Glad that part of it is over, though the experience today at MacMulkin was totally painless.

I agree on that gray interior, I've seen it in person and it is not for me. Saw the Brownstone in a Crystal Red 2014 yesterday and love it. Karl Gott is my sales rep at Mac Mulkin, just trying to make up my mind on the build still.

Congrats Rob!

Is your order going in with the consensus 9/18 then? Your ETA sounds about the same as ours, so I'm guessing yes?

Karl is one of the many on the email addresses that go back and forth with us, but Ron seems to be the primary guy we speak with. ;)

Karl says I should consider myself already at 1100. He promises e-mails as things progress.
