My dealer placed my order for a 2015 Stingray Coupe on August 2, 2014. ( Vancouver Canada ) I got a copy of my order which states Retail Sold. Then sometime after this date there was a Canadian price increase. My vette was built the week of October 27 th and the dealer now says I must pay the increased price of over $ 2,000 for the vehicle. The sales manager says they never heard of Price Protection. Am I price protected for a 2015 order and if so how do I convince the dealership ? Any advise is greatly appreciated. The new vette should be delivered by the end of November.

So you had no price on your bill of sale?
I ordered my 14 in Feb and it was delivered in April after the first price increase. I was price protected. My dealer never tried to charge me the higher price.

August 2.... I dont believe pricing was out in Canada yet which is why your receipt, or bill of sale, lists your deposit. The ONLY way you would be price protected is if you can validate your purchase at that price before any increase and, in fact, also if your order states MSRP as the purchase price. Without that paper stating MSRP, they can chunk on a few grand and we have already seen that once ot twice this year with US dealers.

I could be wrong but I dont believe pricing was set in canada when the price increase came through.....so no protection.

You are correct there was no 2015 price set in Canada on August 2nd. I just thought that because I ordered it and was Retail Sold that they would honour the 2014 price. Now they are stating a 2015 price increase of $ 2,585 which I think it quite steep for one model year since there was already a $ 2,000 price increase in Canada in March 2014.

Hello 2015 Laguna Blue Fan:

It is too bad that we have to put up with price increases but they are the sellers and we are the buyers and if we want what they sell then we should pay what they ask. The price increase in March of 2014 was on the 2014 model year, so it has no bearing on your 2015 pricing other than it sets a base from which to set the new prices for the 2015 models. Initially in the states there was no base price increase on the 2015 base model but there were some increases on some of the options thus giving some price increases to some of the cars ordered. Since there was no price set when you ordered your car in Canada you would be charged whatever the price was when your car went to production. And that was the latest price after the latest increase. When I bought
STUNG, it had a price quote and it was accepted by the dealer & GM at the work bench level (1100) and when they increased the prices in March I was protected other than my Comp. Seats that were ordered after the price increase but before production started. The price of my car jumped $2,600 from code 1100 to 3400 and there was nothing I could do about it. Actually my window sticker showed the new whole increased price but it was altered by GM because of the price protection.
Unfortunately you had no price to protect at the time you ordered the car and you were ordering blind in that regard. It is a piss off I know but when all is considered it is still a much better price than the last production pricing of the C6 models in 2013. I would love to be able to say fight it but if you don't buy the car because of this there is someone waiting in the wings to buy your car.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Laguna..... count your chickens you are not waiting for that rare Canadian Z06. We were given first allocation well before the US (which is odd as we are mainly getting Spring deliveries of only a few) , yet we STILL have no pricing. This is going to sting when you consider similar high end GMC vehicles such as the Suburban/Yukon (in Canada) just received 5+K price increses from 85 to 90K because of the exchange rate. We can expect much the same for the Z06.

Thanks guys for your responses. I will be proceeding with buying the car as it is an incredible vehicle but wanted to confirm whether I would have price protection or not. Maybe the dealer can throw in a few goodies such as a jacket, or other items.

I picked up the corvette today and the dealer provided a credit in the amount of $ 750. for customer loyalty and when requested by me also threw in a Corvette all season winter cover valued at over $ 400.00 retail so I am a happy camper.

The Loonie continues to sink against the USD. I think it is now 1 Loonie = 0.88 USD. Taking this into account, is the Canadian MSRP now below that of the US MSRP?

And if the Loonie continues to weaken against the USD, wouldn't it be harder to provide price protection in Canada?

No because the CDN $ is worth less the MSRP in Canada must be and is higher. ( For every 1 US dollar Canadians must pay approximately 1.136 dollars ) The base price in Canada now ( for a 1LT Coupe ) is approximately $ 59,250 including delivery. In fact, the price in Canada went up twice in less then a year. $ 2,000. in the spring of 2014 and there is approximately a $ 2,600 increase for the 2015 MY. IMO the $ 2,600 is mostly to cover the cost of the lower CDN dollar in the later half of 2014 and 2015. ( because of course Canadians pay in CND dollars )
