Is anyone familiar with this process?

1. When I go to sign up it wants to know which credit union I am a member of. I'm not yet a member of any. Has anyone been past this step and just chosen the one they MIGHT join? Can it be changed later? I just want to get access to the site so I can start looking around and getting a feel for how it all will work.

2. The site says that I will be eligible for supplier pricing. Recently a teacher discount was made available that I am eligible for. The problem with that one is that the car has to be delivered by 1/2/15, too soon for my plans. This credit union discount doesn't seem to be subject to the same date limitation. Will both program (teacher and credit union) discounts be essentially the same? I'm thinking they are both supplier price, but just want to be sure.

3. It says that authorizations for the discount are good for 6 months. If I join now will I automatically be issued one? Or can I wait until the time frame I need it and request one?

Just hoping someone has been around the block on this stuff and can offer some clarity.

Thanks

1. I registered for the site before I joined a credit union, selecting the credit union I intended to join. I then joined that credit union. Each credit union is different, but the one I joined only required a minimum $25 deposit. You can change credit unions after you register. But you should be a member of one to get an authorization number. You will be able to look around the site once registered. I suggest reading the FAQ.

2. Have no knowledge of the teachers discount. Once you are registered for the credit union program, you apply for an authorization number when you intend to buy a car. The authorization number, once issued, is good for six months. You are not issued a number automatically on registering.

3. Note that while the 2015 Corvette cannot be priced out on the site as of today, it is an eligible vehicle. I think it cannot be priced out because Chevrolet has not yet updated the "build and price" for the 2015 Corvette on its web site, so it is not available on the mygmdiscount.com site either.

4. Dealers are not required to participate in this program. Nor are they required to make all models eligible for the program. However, at least one of our sponsoring dealers has posted on this forum site that they will honor supplier and employee pricing on orders for all models of 2015 Stingrays, (this may not include the Z06. Doesn't say), so they would, I think, honor the credit union price, which is the same as the supplier price.

If I have gotten anything wrong, I am sure someone will correct me.

5. When you buy through this program, you cannot use some GM card discounts, such as the old Grandfathered program that I participate in. Again, this is in the FAQ.

You are not issued a code when you register, you generate a code when you want. I typically wait until I'm leaving for the dealer to buy the car but with the C7 I generated a code and sent it to the dealer when they confirmed the order had gone to 2000 status. From there you are only 6-8 weeks away from having your car, well within the 6 month limit.

Thank you both, that was immensely helpful.

Is the credit union discount a program that requires delivery by a certain date? Does the program ever expire? As I said earlier the teacher discount stipulates that delivery must occur by 1/2/15, delivery for me will be along the lines of June 2015.

Thanks again!

As far as I know, the credit union program has no expiration date, but of course, like any such marketing program, could be unilaterally ended by GM if they so desired. I would imagine they would honor authorization numbers already issued.

This is perfect! All I have to do is request the authorization number about 3-4 months prior to June and I should be set!

Now to find a great dealer that will honor it. Any suggestions? I'm in Nevada, the closer the better.
