Dave @kirbeck, largest US dealer, reports on the other boards as the Why the constraint is going on. Not really new news , but here's what he has to say and no, he does not comment as to what components it involves:

As far as the reason for the constraint, all I can tell you is that one of the suppliers who makes a Z51 component is barely keeping up while another supplier can not keep up at all and that is the main problem.

me thinks GM would get a lot more orders for the c7 if they would work closer with the dealers concerning the constraints. i went to two dealers who basically said they would take my deposit and my car with the z51 option may be built ''sometime, who know's when''. the forum was spouting rumors that it would be 6 months before the constraint was lifted on the z51.
that may have been true in broad terms, but what they didn't say is that z51's were still being ordered and produced. sure the numbers are down for reasons stated above, but i was able to order one on 29 october that is currently at 3800 [built, awaiting either shipping or quality control].
the trick--i didn't know it, just found the right kind of dealer, who did know--is getting or pursuing an allocation from gm. my dealer found an unused allocation at another dealership and got a hold of it. the timing was important. my order had to be placed by a certain date and no other constraints could be in place. as it turned out, i wanted the transparent top, which was on constraint, so the dealer placed two orders. one with and one without. these little tricks made the difference in my case.
hopefully gm will alert/educate other dealers how to sell cars using a little creativity instead of the constant negativity.
