Does anyone know whether there is room in the back for bags if the roof panel is put back there. I'm wondering about what it would be when traveling long distances with a couple of bags and you want to enjoy open roof driving. Thanks.

Check out the thread about "golf clubs in the back of a C7" and you will read a lot about the rear space.

The answer will always be "it depends". The rear area is shallow to begin with as compared to a normal car trunk. The roof doesn't sit directly on the floor it sits several inches above it. So what you can store under the roof will "depend" on how tall that item is which will have to be pretty flat. Put it another way in most cases if you are traveling with luggage you will probably have to leave the roof on until you get where you're going.

Here is a picture of the back area to give you an idea of height.

Here is a picture of the rear cigarette lighter you would used to put for example a trickle charger to keep your battery charged.
