So, I spend a lot of time looking around at Corvette Club activities and events, but this one looks really great. I am thinking I'll try to make it next year. Since I plan out vacations REALLY far in advance, I am bookmarking this weekend plus some time before and after to do this event for now.

The event is put on by Corvettes West and here is the link to the info page for the 2014 event.

I am not sure if they do the same activities every year in the same order or not, but I will just guess they do. I'm not sure I'm all that interested in the car show on Friday, but doing a caravan around Big Bear Lake on Saturday sounds fun as well as the Poker Run on Sunday. The organizer said they put out their signup flyers in February of each year.

PLUS, I just think GETTING THERE will be a majority of the fun. The number of twisty, fun mountain roads I could route us on between NorCal and Big Bear are many. Obviously, we'd do different coming and going. Probably set the route to 'pick up' other NorCal members along the route if others wanted to join in with us and caravan down there.

But based upon the location, maybe some SoCal members and even some NV or AZ members might be interested in road tripping to this? It would be fun to meet other members from this Forum.

Have any of you that have had other Vettes participated in this in the past? They've had it annually for LOTS of years.

Cheers!

Suzy, thanks for posting this. For our last Big Bear Bash in June we had a group of Vettes come down from Tacoma WA and they had a ball. They made several stops on the way down and made a true Corvette Road Tour of their great vacation. We sure hope they return because they were a lot of fun. We haven't begun the detailed planning yet, but I can tell you there will be the Volleyball Challenge, the Corvette Trivia Challenge (bone up on your Corvette details) the Cruise around the lake, road rally & poker rally,& lots of time to meet new friends. The car show is really a wash & shine, you just park your car and chat with people or take off for a couple of hours touring Big Bear Village on foot, come back and take your car out to cruise around. Oh yes, as in all Corvette events , we EAT a lot! There will be more events planned, just wait for the announcements.

Thanks Janet. Are the cruise around the lake, the road rally and the poker rally scheduled for the weekend? If you think you're doing one of those on Friday, then maybe I'll have to rethink my eta.

And for sure keep me in the loop on the long distance travelers, but I'd be most interested in picking up guys from our Northern California Group on this Forum along the route. Maybe zig zag around a bit. ;)

Cheers,
Suzy

Suzy, the Cruise around the Lake is usually Saturday afternoon. The Road Rally and the Poker Rally are run together and usually on Sunday morning. There will be more news coming, please check the website and I'll keep you posted also.

Hi.. I just wanted to bring this thread to the top since the hosting club has the registration forms and the daily schedule up on their Website. If you're planning to attend, FYI!

Seems like a great way to get to the golden 1500 mile break in mark. Sounds fun.

Now the silly question. Do they happen to have a fenced in PaRKING area there? Replete with razor wire, dobies, armed guards, and motion sensors. ??? ;) JK

The dates of this are finally rolling around.

Does anyone on this board want to schedule a meet up of StingrayForums members?

We can do Saturday late morning somewhere. We are not participating in anything on the schedule until 2pm Saturday.

I am not familiar with the area since we're coming from Northern California, so feel free to make suggestions!

Since I am chairing the Autocross, I will be busy, but please come over to the airport and say hello. You will have fun watching. All you have to do is sign the "hold harmless" and walk in.
When I am finished with the Autocross I will go over to the Funkana and watch over there.
Hope to have met everyone prior to that on Friday at the car show. You will need to Tech your car for the Funkana at the Car Show.
We will have Bowling Green Assembly Plant Engineer John Wakefield helping us with the Tech Inspection and answering questions about the new 2016 and Stingrays in general.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone in person. Have a safe trip down to So Cal.

That's interesting. We are driving down Friday and hoping to make it there for dinner. No chance we will be there for car show on Fri.

Funkana on Sat is our first planned activity so we can sleep in Sat. This is the first I have heard of a tech inspection. What a bummer.

Not to worry, the tech inspection for the Funkana is minor, you will get thru it in a flash. The Car show is not the only time we will be doing it. We will even do it right at the Funkana. NO PROBLEM. Just make sure that everything is emptied out of your car -- no garage opener, no cell phones etc. Nothing to fly around inside the car. Your Stingray will zip thru the mechanicals. The historic cars require more of a check (battery tie down, brakes, steering etc). We are very adaptable for everything, just relax and enjoy your weekend.

Looking forward to meeting you.
