Software/Firmware Updates for 2014 C7?

Hey all, I have a 2014 Z51 (w/ 7-speed manual, performance exhaust, magnetic ride) that I got back in April 2014. Car is (still) awesome.

I just drove a friend's brand new 2015 Z06 though, and there were 2 very significant software-related things I noticed as compared to my 2014 Z51:

  1. The infotainment Settings screen, Drive Mode, Exhaust settings has way more options than mine, including Track, Sport, Tour, Stealth, and Auto. I just have "Off" (loud) and "Auto" (linked to drive mode).
  2. The rev matching on the 7-speed manual is much faster with the Z06. By the time you are fully in the gate, it's already at the right RPM...not so with mine.

Does anyone know if there are any software/firmware updates for the 2014 models that would address these differences?

Smileyborg, to my knowledge there is no software update for the NPP on the 2014 that will add additional setting like those in the Z06, and perhaps the rev matching was different in yours because of the drive mode you were in? The ones I drove at Ron Fellows (2014 Z51s) were pretty instantaneous rev matching.

There is definitely a difference between the 2014 Z51 and the 2015 Z06 in rev matching speed. I definitely remember also seeing this software change acknowledged somewhere by one of the Corvette engineers in an article or interview (may have been Tadge, I forget)...but basically they were saying that on the '14 software, some people could heel-toe faster than it, but with the new '15 software that is no longer the case. I also drove at Ron Fellows and all of those 2014 Z51s work just like mine. The new '15 Z06 is really instantaneous.

Your dealer does. Call you local dealer and ask.

This, by the way, is the best reason to have your oil changed at the dealer and it is a reason no one talks about.

When you take you car to the dealer for an oil change, they should be checking it for, and installing, firmware updates. Ask them to do this when you next take it in. It shouldn't cost anything to do so.

good suggestion re one of the reasons to use the dealer for oil changes, however they will only do software updates that are critical and required. All other updates (and there normally are a number) will only be done if you are experiencing a relevant problem and tell them about it.

Been searching archives for a possible way to set or force my '14 Stingray (NPP) into "Stealth" mode. This old thread is as close as I can find. I understand there was no such mode on the '14, but has anyone discovered a way to duplicate the stealth setting? Or a confirmed firmware upgrade that does it? I will also make a call to my dealer to ask, but experience has already taught me that Stingrayforums.com is far superior to my dealers knowledge.

Put your Sound Management ON. Put your Drive Mode in Eco. Feed the gas slowly and your pipes will be rather muted.

Thanks, jsvette, i'll give it a try. I was hoping to be able to do some "spirited" driving without the flaps opening, I haven't tried it yet in Eco but in Touring mode it'll open up if you punch it. Normally I want it loud all the time, but it would be neat to be able to take off like a rocket silently in certain situations.

Well if you want to take off like a rocket silently you won't be doing it in your C7, need to get a Tesla for that.

The answer depends on a number of factors including what updates the C7 already has, what issues it is having and whether a software update is prescribed for it (per a Technical Service Bulletin), etc.
