Some 2014 Orders Moved To 2015 Orders:

Just heard from an acquaintance that due to his dealership not being able to place all their '14 StingRay orders (allocation), that they were choosing to move their last three 2014 unfulfilled orders and place them at the head of the line as their earliest 2015 orders. (The dealership is one of the top 86 dealers 1st quarter of this year.) This meant that my acquaintance's slot, previously #2 on that dealership's 2015 order priority list, was changed, as he was just informed that he is now #5 on their 2015 priority list. Thankfully that dealer was honest and forthright with this person.

I strongly believe that dealerships are NOT required to move their unfilled '14 orders to the head of their '15 priority list, that since 2015 will be a new model year, that dealerships have a choice as to where they slot their unfilled '14 orders into their 2015 priority list.

Bottom line is that each of you with a '14 order in place, needs to now contact your own dealer and ask whether they have guarantee allocation for your order.

On this forum, we have seen enough folks erroneously strung along by their dealerships this year, and we do not want anyone else to be in that circumstance. To assist you in getting your 2014, I just talked with our forum's sponsoring dealership, MacMulkin, and with their over 1,000 allocations this year, just confirmed that they have more unfilled allocations for 2014's. If interested in that option, e mail and or call Tommy: [email protected] (MacMulkinChev): (603) 475-9903. Or, e mail/call Tommy's colleague: Mark Makarewicz: (978) 979-1816

I give credit to the dealer for moving their remaining 2014 orders to the top of their 2015 list; however, it is my understanding that the dealers know the number of allocations they have been given from GM. IMHO, if the dealer did not have enough allocations, then they should have never accepted the order or should have given the disclaimer to the person ordering that their car may not get built because they are over their allocation.

Rossi6998, everything you posted makes complete sense to me, that dealerships with integrity should not be promising delivery if they do it have at least that number of allocations.

The only thing that might have effected this, is that the dealership probably was given a specific number of coupe allocations and while GM honored that number, it did not grant them enough Z-51 slots due to the constraints on that option, requiring the dealership to then tell the remaining three Z-51 orders (not willing to compromise on that option), that they would move them to the head of their 2015 allocation list. (This is a good dealership, with a good reputation, and just trying to make sense of how this happened.)

Everyone's' concern is how many more folks, both those who ordered a Z-51 and those who did not, get told this same sad news over the next few weeks, for June 12th is the last 2014 consensus.

Understood... That whole Z-51 constraint just boggles my mind.
The package has been just too popular. GM invested millions into some of their Z-51 suppliers over the last few months, unprecedented in that they do not have an ownership interest in some of them, to increase the supply of Z-51 parts, with the result that Z-51 production (in fact total StingRay production), will go up to 170 total units per day effective June 2nd. Even with that, GM stated as late as last month, that the Z-51 constraint will be with us for many more months. Hopefully, the "ZF1 Appearance Package" will ease the Z-51 constraint.
