There are three roof panels available. All 3 are one piece and remove the same way, two latches in front and one at the center in the rear of the panel. Once removed the panel can be placed in the trunk where there are catches built in to secure the panel so that it doesn't get damaged or move about. When the panel is secured in the trunk it can actually be lifted at the rear as if it is hinged at the front catch so you can get to items in your trunk stored beneath the panel. The three options are the
carbon fiber body color panel, the
exposed carbon fiber panel that looks black, and the
transparent plastic panel that also looks black. The two carbon fiber panels weigh the same, about 14 pounds, and do not allow any light through to the interior. The transparent panel is about a pound and a half heavier. The exposed carbon fiber panel looks on close examination from the outside of the C7 just like you would expect, carefully laid down carbon fiber. The transparent roof looks similar from a distance to the carbon fiber panel in color, that is, black. But when you get close you can see inside the car through its heavy tint. From the inside looking out, the transparent roof panel allows clear vision through a heavy blueish tint. The transparent panel will allow more heat transmission in full sun than either of the carbon fiber panels. You can order the C7 with just one panel or two panels, depending on your choice at extra cost. Currently all panels except the transparent are on constraint. But as with other components on constraint, that changes. When you are ready to place your order it may not be an issue. If you want it to be the same color as your exterior body color choice, then the standard (no extra charge option) of the painted carbon fiber panel is the one for you. The dual roof panel options come into play if you wanted to have a different panel to swap out, such as the transparent. Hope this helps Clarkster.
