I have an aesthetically beautiful mechanically ugly 2014 C7 Z51 LT3 which I paid $5K over sticker and waited anxiously to have delivered.

From the start I suspected I may have issues before the car arrived and sure enough, BAM!

My first issue which included 4 dealer visits waiting whilst the "stingray specialist" and service manager at Penske Chevy in Cerritos, CA worked with the team of engineers in KY was never fixed and never again addressed after 6 months included constant sounds of running water behind the glove box which sounded similar to an old coffee percolator.

The next issue I found was that when you turn the temperature setting dial down to Lo setting but do not turn on the A/C button, the A/C compressor engages however the A/C button light is not on and the dash display says A/C Off. Beware as the A/C is on even though it says off.

Secondly on a similar note the software does not properly indicate exterior and interior air circulation when you check it out.

As an owner of a software company I suggested to the service manager that there seems to be a S/W glitch which prevents proper indicator lights from engaging. Upon the service department review with the KY team again I was told there is an "anomaly" in the system.

I simply said "oh no shit, wow why didn't I think of that"

GM definitely released the vehicle before all of the proper tests were completed fixing any bugs.

What a disappointment.

This is my first American car purchase since in the 1980's when I had a special order Z28 which had nothing but problems which people as high up as "zone managers" could not get corrected so I never bought another until now. This will be the last one I purchase.

I will garage this with my 69 Stingray for my children to sell when they get older.

My opinion, buy Lexus products.

Two suggestions.

Sell the car now. You'll likely get a better return selling now and if you want invest the money for your kids to inherit or for your grand kids (if you have them or eventually do). Or heck spend the money on something else!

Or, keep working to get the car right so you can enjoy it. And if the car never gets sorted out perhaps GM buys it back as a lemon.

mjmanette, first welcome to our forum. Sorry to read of your troubles. It almost seems as though you may have been predisposed to find problems with your Stingray which you stated you paid 5k over sticker (buyers remorse?) and "suspected I may have issues before the car arrived" combined with the fact that this was your first American car purchase since the "1980's when I had a special order Z28 which had nothing but problems." Perhaps the 2 alternatives Rsmith suggested are worth seriously considering.

Or you could just drive this amazing car and enjoy it. My car also turns on the AC when you select low. You wanted it cold in your car didn't you? So what if a little light doesn't come on? If you turn on the defrost on any car and the AC comes on.
I will admit that reading this forum makes you think this car has a lot of problems, but just think how many owners aren't here talking about how wonderful the car is.

After 780 miles my car got two fault lights. They are replacing the ECU or ECM completely. I've had the car for six days. The people at the Chevrolet service department had to contact GM because they weren't sure what the problem. They are putting in a completely new ECU unit but I am not optimistic. You can rationalize and say quit complaining but the car nit working as it should is a real problem on a 70000 dollar vehicle

I bought a 2008 Lexus IS250 as a Christmas gift for my wife in December 2007. The only problem we've had is getting clobbered at a red light by some idiot on her cellphone. Over 9K in repairs and it still drives like a dream and is quiet in the interior at highway speed.

Bought a 2014 Stingray in May 2014 and GM bought it back in July (in full) for more than one issue, however, I would still buy another Stingray.

Well that's the thing every vehicle will is goon to have its issues If you happen to get one with issues and you really liked the vehicle get another. With the C7 it's definitely going to be isolated and it's unfortunate but it's a class act world class performance sports car
