Strange Issues - Advice Please!

2016, Z51 with 38k miles. Within the past few weeks I have 2 issues that I need help with please:

1. The drivers side window intermittently does not index. Does not do it all the time, but enough that I must be cognisant about it. The battery or electrical had not been touched when it started. I re-indexed the windows, did not help. So yesterday I replaced the battery, thinking that could be the problem, it was not. It happened again this morning.

2. Stereo does not shut off when I open the door to exit. Turn the car off, open the door, and stereo is still playing. Shut the door it goes off, sometimes I have to hit the lock on the FOB and then it goes off. It does this intermittently as well, just like the window indexing.

I really thought replacing the battery would resolve these issues, but it didn't.

Any ideas?

Sorry to read about your frustrating problems Sixgun95. When you replaced the battery, did you take it for a cruise of 30 or so minutes on the highway to ensure the new battery was fully charged up?

How long did you leave the car with the old battery disconnected? I am wondering if you didn't already try it, disconnect the battery and leave it overnight. This should drain any residual power from the body control computer etc. Then reconnect and see what happens. It could be the new battery also needs to be topped off, especially if was one that was sitting on the shelf for a while. Driving the car should chrge it some, but I would invest in a battery tender like the one in the factory battery protection package. I have not experienced this myself, but other forum users have reported wierd electrical issues when teh battery is not 100% and having the tender on there is an easy way to keep the battery in good condition.

It was disconnected maybe 30 minutes. After installing I put it on a battery tender overnight, about 12 hrs.

I will disconnect it overnight, cannot hurt!

I did see another thread with someone with the same issues.

"I have a 2014 C7 and recently started having a problem with the passenger window. When we open the door the window goes down and inch or so to allow clearance of frame. Sometimes once it is opened, the window returns to the top position and hits the frame when closed. I have tried indexing the windows and this has not helped. One other thing to note is that when the door is open and I press the door open button (the one accessed from the outside) the window goes up and down a few times and then stops. This does not always happen, but on occasion. I am looking for others who have had and solved this problem. "

I am starting to think the same. Someone suggested replacing the door latch mechanism, the one on the main body that also has a cable that goes to the manual release on the floor and the one in the trunk. Is this what you are referring to also? Thanks.

Sorry, I am traveling with limited access to good WI-FI. My guess is that there is a sensor that communicates to the body control unit in the latch. But that is just a guess. I normally would look it up in the shop manual, but don't have them with me. I am doing a few thousand miles across country. Next best thing is to check out some YouTube Videos. Also you can check places like partsDirect.com which show the assembly picture. But I think you are right and it is in the latch on the body. But it could be in the pad that is in the door. It also sends a signal to the latch. So I would double check a few ideas before I dug into it.

For the window indexing issue, try checking the window regulator and the switch for any malfunctions. It could also be a wiring issue causing intermittent problems.

Regarding the stereo not shutting off, this could be related to the door sensor or the stereo system itself. Inspect the door switch and wiring to ensure proper function. If the issue persists, consider having a professional diagnose the electrical system for any underlying issues.
