Might be a silly question but I just changed my oil. Went with Mobil 1. Drove the car to operating temp for a good hour. Shut it off and let it sit for a good 20 minutes. My dip stick is in the hot level just between the middle of hot and the top hole in hot. Do I have too much oil in there?

No real way of telling for sure since level needs to be checked between 5 and 10 minutes after the car is shot down but I suspect the level in the tank will drop over time as gravity does it's thing so I would say you are a tad overfilled.

That's what I was thinking maybe a tad over filled. Oil pressure is ranging anywhere from 30-47ish psi. That seems to be pretty normal. I'm wondering if I should be concerned and do something about it.

By the way, do you have the wet sump or dry sump, Nicholoso?

Z51 dry sump
Then warm the engine up to at least 175 degrees, let it sit for 5 minutes then take a measurement. Have a turkey baster handy and suck out enough oil to get the measurement between 1/2 and full and you're all set. If it covers the upper hole it's overfilled. Hold the dipstick at an angle to the light, it's easier to see the shiny line with brand new oil.

Just recently had an oil change, dry sump, just put in 9 quarts even with filter change. Oil measurement sits in the middle of the gauged marks area, perfect, for me.

Dealer did it. They said they used about 8.8-9 quarts
I could see if a dealer did it they probably didn't let it drain as much as it could. I let both holes drain for almost an hour and even there there was a small drip still coming out. Considering you drove it in then they drove it back onto the rack a lot of oil was in the block and if they didn't let it drain for at least 10 minutes they left at least 1/2 qt in the block and cooler. Even with my 1 hour drain it only took 9.2 qts to get to a little over 1/2 on the dipstick.
