I'm not a fan of black wheels...but I like the 2015 Machined face / black wheels.
The black harmonizes with the vents yet they still retain a silver look.
If any take offs come up for sale I'll consider buying them.

Anyone else like these?

I think these look great. VERY rare to see them (STANDARD / non Z51 black machined wheels). As a matter of fact, I think when I was in the plant for my buyer's tour I saw EVERY other wheel option except these.

I actually opted out of black machined Z51s as I didn't think they looked 'metal' enough for me, but these I like. ;)

If I was getting a Stingray I'd go w/these wheels, they're sharp.

Ditto Rick's comment, and because of their "clean-ability" and their appearance, I would love to see them or similar for a Z06 next year.

Saw these on a 1LT C7 yesterday, they are indeed very sharp. The sticker price shocked me though, $1495! Without looking too closely into it they appear to be very similar to the base wheels but with all but the face painted black. That seems like a steep price.

It is steep. Mark from Florida had his custom powder coated for far less than that.

The more I think about it the more ridiculous the price is becoming. ZF1 is $1995 and that includes a wheel upgrade, tire upgrade, and spoiler! Even the carbon flash badge option is only a $100 premium over the chrome badges, this seems like it should be a similar cost upgrade. I think $400 would have been about right, $100 per wheel.

GM asks too much for its wheel upgrades. For the machine face upgrade charge, you can find a set of Cray machined face black forged wheels.

It's all part of GM's marketing strategy. They list the basic C7 for a bit over $50k, but if you want nice options on your sports car (and who doesn't?), you're at $64-75k. Then again that price is still a bargin considering 911's range from $84,300 to $194,600.

Cutting price on after-market wheels and such is always an option, it just depends whether you want OEM stuff, or not.

Why not get the OEM silver wheels (no extra charge) and have them powder coated? Besides, powder coat is a more durable finish than painted anyway, and it costs less.

i love the new OEM wheels but the oem wheels again use paint that will chip long term, and for that specific fact, I'd go powdercoat or aftermarket that use powdercoating. It's possible to get the exact look but with better longevity. Here is a factory silver wheel done last year with powdercoat - exactly like the '15 wheel:

I agree, and that's why we don't hardly see them methinks. ;)

2014 Chrome wheels were $1995.00 over the std. painted wheels which I thought was overpriced, however we do see lots of them.
I would've ordered them for 4-500.00 but not 2 G's.

I found these aftermarket Z51 style chrome / black on eBay, look pretty good. $920.00 for the 18" 19" set

You could buy these and set of AS tires to go with them for the 2 grand. Search ebay for "C7 Z51 Machined face/black Corvette wheels 18/19" Combo 2014-2015 C7 Stingray"

These look great and exactly like the GM version. The GM version is an even greater travesty than the ones we were talking about above. First you have to opt for ZF1 for $1995 which I can live with as I mentioned, its a reasonable deal. But then you have to pay $1495 on top of the ZF1 $1995 to make part of the wheel black, that's a ridiculous charge. So to get to the rim pictured from GM you must pay $3490 in options. Holy cow.

The wheels in that picture are factory wheels, not aftermarket. They were just powder coated to get the 2 tone effect.

If you like the look but not the price get the Z51 or ZF1 option then spend another $100/wheel and have a local (or national) powder coat company refinish them.

Intriguing...I have a friend with a 2014 C7, he was at a show and the guy next to him had a 2015 C7 that had the (in this case, Z51) machine faced wheels from the factory. (Point being here is that I heard this third-hand...)

In any case, they got into a discussion with my friend complaining about the paint chipping on his black Z51 wheels - the guy with the machine faced ones (again - factory option) insisted his were powder coated, and used this to rationalize the price difference - his were a $1495.00 option versus the black painted ones at $495.00

I was very skeptical when my friend told me of this guy's claim the machine faced were powder coated versus painted by GM - does anybody know with 100% certainty if they are? Reading the above seems to indicate they are painted.....

powdercoat does not chip like this: I can say for 100% sure they are not powedercoated, it is paint. One of the best body shops in s florida told me this first hand that is repainting with DuPont Imron, a much sturdier paint. Mark can also comment here. Besides that, powdercoat does not "cost more" than paint, in many cases, cheaper....
