Let's start with revisiting Motor Trend's December 6th story (link to full article below), that,
"The 2015 Corvette Z06's hood also looks significantly revised, with a distinctive power dome. Rumor has it that underneath the bulge is a supercharged version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray's LT1 6.2-liter V-8."
Let us also reflect on GM's statements that the C7.R and the C7 Z06 were "co-developed," and that the C7 Z06 is the "most track capable production Corvette ever." Knowing the appropriate "big deal" GM has made about how the front tilted radiator on the 2014 StingRay, coupled with its hood venting reduces lift as the air splays down onto the front hood at the rear end of hood vent's grill, might the C7 Z06's front hood be an almost a repeat copy of the C7.R's?
Here are two pictures from the C7.R. Might we be seeing a the Z06's hood's shape, especially the deeply curved, extra large hood "vent" as in these C7.R photos (a type of hood venting we see in a lot of similar ALMS/Tudor United Sports Car Championship race cars)? If so, we can say that GM's use of the phrase, "co-developed" has a very literal and accurate meaning.
And here is a picture of the Z06 mule, also from the same MT article:
