Variables like what options did you order (are any of them constrained)
I'm just getting up to speed here myself, but there's so much solid information here that it's easy to get a good feel.

My car is probably one of the 'easy' builds....1LT, non-Z51....only options are dual red stripes and NPP exhaust.
Placed my order Aug 9th, went to status code 2000 in days, and have been at status code 3000 for a bit - the dealer called and says he expects the car to be at their lot early-mid October....

wow! I'm getting a 2lt, clear roof, auto, and a few other options. Nothing too crazy. My dealer told me 4-6 months!!!

Once the order is accepted by GM (status 2000) it's a 6-8 week build time regardless of options. If your dealer is saying 4-6 months then they don't have allocation and it will be 2-4 MONTHS before they do, find another dealer.......

If you're already in NJ, why not go to Kerbeck? There's no problem with allocation there...

yeah, you don't have an "order" really, he just took your money and is hoping....think of it like sending a UPS package - he wrapped the package and sent it on his doorstep (order input) but no telling when the truck is coming to pick it up...He's called UPS, but they have not said when they would come by........it could sit on the doorstep forever...

the MOMENT they input your order, they can print this: ask for it - ask the sales manager -until it says 2000 in the red circle, you really have nothing, a car is not being built for you. Notice how my name is on it, not the dealer name:

Then they should have no problem getting you a copy and periodic updates on the GM OrderWORKBENCH, so you will know where you stand.

I traded my 2007 and gave it to them to sell while the season is still good and the dealer gave me a new vehicle to drive while I wait 6 to 8 weeks for my 2015 z51 convertible, Auto to be built and delivered. I have to keep the mileage low on the loaner but what great service from my dealer.
