After my first 600 miles I've started to get a creeking or rattle, squeak kinda noise. When I roll the Windows down it sometimes goes away. It mainly happens when the Windows are up and sealed. Its getting worse I've taken the roof off and reset it but it remains. Is anyone else having this issue and if so is there a fix? Info appreciated. Thanks

Bud; Check your locking pins for looseness. I remember reading a similar complaint elsewhere, but I can't really remember how those locking pins were checked to determine that they were not properly tightened / installed. Maybe it is obvious? I should think that your dealer should be able to fix it up for you. Let us know how they fix it.

You might want to try putting some seal conditioner on a mircrofiber towel and run it all around the panel seal. If the front levers are fully pushed home after the fixed pins are in their respective receptacles on the rear cross beam, and then the center latch snaps closed easily (this confirms the panel is properly seated. If you have to force the center latch and/or it doesn't snap open easily when you press the release, it means the panel is not properly seated on the gasket and cross member) you should have zero movement in the top panel. I have noticed that some owners catch one end of the rear seal when inserting the panel and it ends up going slightly above the roof when closed. The seal should look uniform and below the panel by about an 1/8 of an inch rather than flush with it from edge to edge right down to the top of the windows on each side.

budZ51,

My sincere apologies to read of your displeasing top rattling concerns. Although you're seeking thoughts and opinions, if you feel an official GM diagnosis is necessary, I'd be happy to communicate your sentiments with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at the GM dealer of your choice. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you'd like to proceed (with the above), or discuss this situation further.

I ordered son seal conditioner from Amazon. I'll give that a try before contacting dealer. Thanks for info
On my earlier vettes I used a dielectric type of grease-- I think the seal conditioner is the same type--it worked for me. cutnout aka charlie

Bud; I found this, it was done by an owner that had a problem similar to yours and he did this as an attempt to solve his noise issue:

"HERE IS THE FIX!!!!!

Ok so the rear eye holders are moveable ( Very slightly even when the two bolts are tight, but only the eye itself. Bracket should not move ). I un-tightened both sides, moved the bracket to its lowest position and re-tightened. This allows for the roof to be pulled down tighter over the rear stripping.
Then for the front, I tightened the handle brackets themselves the most I could with the roof on and latches closed ( first I pulled down on each handle before latching ). I just drove the car around the block a few times and did not hear the creaking sound I have been. I'm sure sitting in the sun does affect all the roofs a little bit, but to make sure yours is not creaking as much, I suggest this approach."

Thanks for the info I'm definitely going to try that. I did use seal conditioner as someone in this thread recommended and it did quiet the noise about 80% but I still get a little squeak here and there so I agree there is room for adjustment. I will post back with results thanks again!

Bud, I had the top creek / rattle. On mine, the noise was coming from the right front part of the top. After checking every thing was tight, I noticed a little scraping on the front right side vertical pin. I loosened up the pin, 17 mm , and adjusted it 180 degrees away from were it had been making contact. No more noise. Hope this helps. Chris

Creeks had gotten so bad it was embarassing to drive with others in the car - sounded like the whole car was falling apart. Had the car for about 2 and half months now - noises didn't start until about a month ago. My fix was similar to those above, but here's specifics.

1. Applied Zymol Seal Rubber Conditional to all the soft rubber contact points. As directed, applied generously, let sit for 30 minutes and then wiped off excess.
2. Applied Poorboys World Natural Look Dressing to all the hard plastic pieces where the roof and car met (namely the front pieces that run across the entire width of the window/roof).

Have been driving for 2 weeks now with virtually no roof noises at all - very happy! I'm guessing it's #2 above that actually fixed it, but no way to tell as I didn't isolate the two processes.

William, I am now having this creaking sound coming from the top left side of my 2014 Z51 purchased July 2014. I didn't have it at the time of the original post but I fought with it last year. Even took it to my dealer that struggled with it and even scratched my factory glass top.
I tried the lubes and even the tiny O-Rings but the creaking come back.
Mi heard that there was a fix for this that required an adjustment of the rear latch but not sure.
Can you help?
Thanks!

There are at least 2 things your dealer can try: adjust the rear latch or replace components per the following post #3 http://www.stingrayforums.com/forum/stingray-corvette-tsb-recalls/14064-going-summary-tsbs-model-year.html

Wow you guys are quick!! Thank you.
But one thing, considering I'm viewing this on my iPhone is there a good way to email this or print it for my GM dealer? Thanks again.
