By "actuator" are you meaning the actual button switch? From your description, that is where it appears the issue is. Or do you also mean in addition to the switch not working, when you go to close the trunk it does not pull itself down the final inch to latch?

If it was working and just stopped working, were you in heavy rain or a hard wash on the rear. There is a connector for the rear switch inside the rear facia on the passenger side. It may have gotten water in it. Bad part is, I think the rear facia needs to come off at least part way to replace switch or check connector.
My tail light stopped working and it was the connector which is also tucked up in there.

 

Perhaps actuator is the wrong word. I have a coupe not a convertible. The soft close feature does not work and the buttons inside the car and by the license plate does not work. Only the fob works. I purchased a somewhat large part which has a spring that I need to install but it looks complicated. I watched a YouTube video of a C6 replacement but not sure if I am up to doing that myself. Any advice is greatly appereciated and that you all for you time!
