Normally do not like to put up unsubstantiated information, but can not get verify or dispute "copharr3" is telling us that he saw his dealer's internal GM memo which stated:

copharr3 said:
No one has been able to order a Z06 convertible as of today. If you think you have ordered a Z06 convertible, you really haven't in GM's eyes. The first time they are accepting orders is later this month. No dealer has received any Z06 convertible allocations as of today. They will receive their first allocation later this month, which will be called the First Z06 Convertible Consensus.
To which "CaryBob" clarified by saying,

Just to be clear, it sounds like GM informed their dealers of two separate events:

They will receive their model year allocations for Z06 convertibles before the next order cycle.
Orders for Z06 convertibles will be accepted in the next order cycle.
Can anyone contact their dealer and see if we can get corroboration on this? (I am traveling today to BG and so far can not.) What is especially interesting to me is, if later verified, it means that dealers have received a memo on the Z06 convertible "ordering window being soon open," but nothing similar regarding A8 window opening soon.

To further clarify (again unconfirmed) - the claim is that M7 convertibles will be able to be ordered in the next consensus - still no A8's - either coupe or convertible....

That is what has been posted, but no additional verification. Even if true, doesn't preclude a similar announcement on the A8's coming, an announcement that could arrive later today, next week, or on the morning of November 20th (the two month "anniversary" of GM famous "1-2 month" memo).

From what MacMulkin posted in their section, appears that just like today, there will again not be a Z06 consensus next Thursday the 13th.

Sure wish we knew what was going on here. praying for the coupe with the A8. How difficult can it be..... The only difference in what GM is producing today is the transmission. Starting to find it difficult to understand. The coupe with the A8 should be able to be produced front to back on the assembly line, unlike the convertible, which is suppose to disrupt the line and take a little longer to build...... Wish they'd release more information and not keep us in the dark. My God, many of us are standing in line with over $100K cash in our hand.... And no additional information being released on the test results at the Nurburgring? The silence would lead one to believe they didn't achieve the results they were looking for and now the weather has probably gotten too bad to continue testing.... Hate to sound like a pessimist, but the communications isn't the greatest...

Oh! And BTW, have a safe trip back to the museum John. Totally jealous you'll be watching your car being built next Wednesday. I assume your driving.... Personally, I think I'd probably fly, but that's just me...

They have to modify work stations as well as get extra parts now that there are cooling changes on the A8 would be my best guess.

Yes, both of that, plus they may not be finished tuning and testing it. Caution and patience to do a good job up-front is worth so much more than potential recalls later. Kudos to GM engineers for being thorough and doing the right (high quality) thing.

Well it wasn't/isn't quite that simple because remember GM found a heating problem with the A8 not too long ago, they told me at Carlisle about it, and had to make a design change to the Z06 to support additional cooling and of course anytime there is a design change testing and or retesting has to be done. Because as many of us know 1 change can break another.

This makes total sense and it might delay the results from the Nurburgring as well. After taking out the 7M car into the wall, the only follow up video's I've seen has been of the Laguna Blue A8 car, which might still be experiencing cooling issues at the ring. Guess I'm just getting frustrated with the wait.....

Very interesting postings elsewhere, but just talked to a top-five allocation dealer and he has not, repeat not, received any communication from General Motors regarding Z06 7-M convertibles being released this month nor that the A8 will not be released until next month. Just seeing nothing to support these alleged "internal to GM information" memos.

That makes perfect sense. They're making (Stingray) convertibles and M7 Z06, so convertible M7 Z06 shouldn't be much different in terms of what they are already manufacturing. I'd almost bet the hang up with the A8 Z06 is getting suppliers ramped up to deliver unique parts (The up front transmission cooler, associated plumbing...).

Maybe Joel, since they added the additional trans cooler later after testing... However, and I'm sure your already aware the transmissions are all built in-house, so that shouldn't have been an issue all this time. The other thing I was thinking of has been the largest majority of new Z06 are going to be equipped with the new 8L90, so perhaps they are trying to get all the others out of the way in order to build all the same thing going down the assembly line.... Logistically, in kinda makes sense.....

Thank you "C7_StingRay" for getting us factual evidence! You have confirmed news A8 orderers do not want, but the truth, our knowing the details of the probable December 8th A8 ordering window, is better than not knowing, or getting non-verified info. Thank you very much for providing these details.

For those looking for a M7 convertible, this news is actually good news, and am guessing we will see your "order door" open on either in three days or next Thursday.
