Callaway is making progress on their 2014 Corvette, releasing this slightly edited press release today:

"September 27, 2013

Project Update:

- Callaway Corvette development underway
- Production scheduled for January, priced as 2013 model
Even though the rest of the world calls the 2014 Corvette "C7", the engineers at Callaway refer to the new Callaway Corvette as Project "C20". Experts in positive manifold pressure applications since 1977, the supercharged 2014 Callaway Corvette program is their 20th major automotive engineering project.

Earlier this year, Callaway engineers were faced with a completely new Corvette, with a completely new engine and new engine management system challenges. It didn't take long to discover how truly spectacular the 2014 Corvette is. However, there was work to be done. For example, Chevrolet carried over only three engine components from 2013: valve retainers, piston pins and starter bolts. The Corvette team introduced direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and electronic powertrain management architecture for 2014 as well. Fortunately, development of the supercharged 2014 Callaway Silverado laid the foundation for 2014 Callaway Corvette development. The Silverado shares new fuel injection, valve timing controls and electronic engine management functions with the new Corvette, giving the Callaway engineers a headstart with the supercharged Callaway Corvette.

Right now, 2014 Callaway Corvette parts are being designed, developed and tooled. A new Callaway supercharger system is in the works, retaining Eaton's service-proven Twin Vortices Series (TVS) rotor pack, but with new manifold and intercooler strategies. Callaway engineers are also busy with a new Honker intake system design that provides increased inlet airflow and a new Callaway exhaust system that reduces exhaust gas restriction, while producing a deeper, more robust exhaust note. 2014 Callaway Corvette pre-production power rating is estimated at 610 bhp (SAE).

In order to ensure reliability during Callaway's standard 3 year/36,000 mile warranty and optional 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain service contract, thorough component testing and validation is scheduled. In addition, as with all Callaway road car and truck projects, the Callaway Corvette project includes establishing 50-state emissions regulations compliance. (Callaway Corvettes will be available in California following CARB issuance of their Executive Order.) The new Callaway Corvette also includes exterior and interior badging, VIN-based identification, and other features to guard against cloning. They are delivered with a personalized Callaway Corvette authenticity documentation package and all vehicle history is maintained in Callaway's "CARS" database.

The 2014 Callaway Corvette package will be introduced at the 2013 price: $22,995. Callaway Corvette production is scheduled to begin around January 1.

NOTE: Callaway Corvette hood and supercharger images shown are designer's renderings; production parts and appearance may vary."
