Some fool poured paint stripper gel (initial report from the owner was that it was acid) all over a new Stingray...not a sight any of us would want to see happen to our new Corvette. I sure hope they catch the perpetrator!

Deranged Person Pours Acid All Over Corvette Stingray

This C7 belongs to Renee Hughes, from Hoover, Alabama. She hopes someone hears someone talking about doing this and is subsequently apprehended. This happened between Midnight and 4:00 a.m. at The Abbey at Riverchase Apartments. https://www.facebook.com/renee.h.saxon?fref=photo

Totally sucks. I wonder if she'll get a new car out of that...

I can't say what I'd do to the perp, but it involves acid, and pouring it on his car. I didn't say that.

Wow. That's crazy. I'm pretty sure I've seen that car at the Summit in Birmingham. I saw a black with red calipers and a black with black the same day, and I'm pretty sure one had C7 on the plate.

lots of words come to mind here--this is one disturbed person to do this. also, fyi, renee has a very interesting facebook page, which is now open wide for the world to see. i will NEVER understand why people open their lives to such wide-spread scrutiny (nothing to do with vette). to each his/her own.

this transcends vandalism, methinks.
I agree totally, some crazy guys will consider that as totally fun to do

I cannot imagine my reactions but if I would have seen that in live. I cross my fingers, hoping that Renee have a very good insurance for that.

Definitely we live in a crazy world and the stupidity have no limits.

This is the type of BS we all live with. There are a few individuals that walk among us that wants to destroy anything that you've worked hard for. I remember one Sunday morning, I walked outside to drink a cup of joe and I had six flat tires. I look around and I have neighbors looking at their vehicles, long story short, we had 28 tires sliced. We knew who the thug was that lived down the street, no proof for charges. Thug was highly convinced to move out of neighborhood. I sincerely hope that Renee gets her C7 masterpiece back at 120%

I don't think I would accept a re-paint. I would hope the insurance company would replace with a new ride.... but probably not the case.:(

There is a story here...this is not vandalism - the damage is too planned....revenge, retribution, something, we'll probably never know...

If you want to really destroy a car and have it happen a thousand miles later, just pour valve grinding compound down the oil fill if you can get the hood open...the engine just grinds itself to death....happened to a friend of mine in the 80's...the oil was pumice when they drained it....

Looks like she made the wrong person mad.

This was not a random act of vandalism. This was obviously personal.

Random acts usually involve something less harsh.

This is really upsetting. I look at a person like Renee. They have one indulgence that really enhances their life and somebody ruins it. Everybody buys things that make life enjoyable and to go and steal somebody else's joy is unforgivable.

Update: The owner initially reported that acid was used but is now reporting that they think it was a paint remover gel. The wheels and tires were also damaged by whatever product was used. The incident took place between Midnight and 4:00 a.m., so it is less likely that someone would have seen it take place.

This is really disturbing. This poor woman has busted her hump and bought something that makes her happy and now it's destroyed by a hater. She will probably never buy a nice car as long as she lives in an apartment and that stinks because everybody should be able to get themselves something nice no matter where they live.
