To those of you that still use some form of wax for your surface protective / shine go-to here are a couple of questions: Do you do a "Dawn" detergent strip of the old wax off before you re-apply the new wax or do you just re-apply? Anyone notice a difference?

Depends on my mood, and maybe what's on the car already.

Some say that dawn wash will affect rubber gaskets etc, but IMHO it shouldn't be too bad since it's not all the time.

One thing is make sure it's rinsed real well after. Really really well.

Dawn and nano skin sponge (clay) for every car I do, waxes can build on each other, sealants not so much....still, the secret to a solid durable detail is surface prep, not the wax itself.

Gave up waxes years ago, too much of a mess.....and work. With today's high tech finishes, an occasional good clay barring and after any wash, detailing liquid works fine. A buffing if finish really takes a beating and driven hard.

So you are using the detail spray as protection?
