I drive primarily in Sport, though if looking for a crisper response I will use Track. Never have used Eco Mode. I do use the Weather Mode when weather conditions warrant it.

 

Thank you for your input. I used Sport when I first got the car and I got decent milage using it.

 

I also drive in Sport mode most of he time, I will switch to Weather Mode if I get caught in one of our frog choking down pours here in Florida.

 

Generally I drove in sport. I only drove in Eco Mode (M7) when I wanted to show my friends that I was not driving a gas guzzler. Hard to do since I treat the throttle more like a switch (on or off)

I have a 2016 Stingray Z51 and I like Track mode but not today because I was on a rural paved road that was full of little bumps and dips. It was such a rough ride that I had to switch over to sport.

Does anyone use the touring mode? I kind of like it. But I've had the car less than 2 weeks. Sports is nice, I love track mode. Haven't used economy or weather yet

 

I have been trying Touring mode, but I don't like it as much as Sport or Track. I have been using Economy when the Freeway is crowded and slow. Isn't Economy just like Touring, except only four cylinders get gas while cursing?

Yes, I use Touring mode most of time for the ride. I do have the mag ride update which makes sport mode for daily compliant. I use sport mode on twisty roads or when I need the performance shifts and stiffer suspension.

 

I'd advise to not drive in the eco mode. There has been a history of lifter/engine serious problems using it. It is not one of GM's best engineering "designs" In fact you can buy a device that you plug into the code monitoring port to bypass eco mode completely.

 

Yeap I have that module plugged in to my port right now. So I'm always in V8 mode even if I'm in touring. It's called the AFM Range something. I got it from the people at Holly. It was either a tuner from Holly a Diablo Platinum 3 tuner or the solar throttle body controller and the AFM range device. I elected to stay away from the tuner. All my other cars are tuned but this Corvette is for cruising, mostly😂

 

Sport all the time

 

It's beginning to seem Sport is the right mode to drive in all the time.

 

My C7 Z51 had a manual transmission. I drove that car in a variety of modes considering road conditions, except ECO. I refused to have the car go into AFM mode! Quite frankly the minor improvement in milage associated with ECO mode was not worth the mechanical crunches AFM cycling put the engine through!

With my C8, I use Zmode or use MyMode with the manual shifting function 90% of the time avoiding AFM engagement. I admit however, in heavy slow stop and go traffic I will forgo the paddles and let the tranny shift on its own in MyMode or Sport Mode. It is very seldom that I use track mode other than the one time I was on the Bowling Green Track

C8. Mostly in Z-mode with powertrain, braking and steering set to Sport and Exhaust set to track, and in manual shift for non-highway driving. On the highway, in Tour mode and in Auto so the car can drop into V4 mode and save some gas.

Took her out last night and today in the rain in weather mode. No problems at all especially with the Continental extreme contact plus tires. Now had I been in the Dodge Charger with the Hankooks in the rain, things would have been scarier.

I have not noticed much of a difference between Sport and Track mode. The throttle response seems to be about the same with a little stiffer ride.

I have a manual C7. My understanding is only when ECO is selected does cylinder deactivation engage. Can anyone confirm that?

I usually leave it in Tour Mode but have set my NPP exhaust to open mode.

 

2014 Z51: set to bypass the tiny muffler at all times on my Borla Attak with Texas Speed headers. I drive in Sport or Track regardless of weather. I don't like that if you shut down in Track, it will startup in Touring - Sport will stay in Sport. Track is fun, giving more leeway in terms of traction and stability control - Sport can be a buzzkill at times, completely shutting down the throttle for what seems like a longer time than I know it is. Track also lets the eLSD steer the rear end around more. I would avoid any other mode as it enables cylinder deactivation - I think it will fail more certainly if used. But getting a cam this fall will eliminate that problem.

This may be an old post but here is my response, Regarding a Smooth riding Sports Car. I’m in my 70’s now and have always had muscle cars and I’m a former B/XS (70’s classification) and bracket drag racer. Due to a motorcycle accident causing a neck injury in my cervical region I need a smooth ride. I drive my C7 Z51 in Touring Mode most of the time mostly because of our horrible roads in PA. When conditions permit on smooth twisty roads I use Sport Mode. I still need to have some fun driving my Vette which is not my daily driver. I may be old but I have owned or driven the fastest American cars built in the 60’s and early 70’s before the horsepower collapse. I remember my L78 Camaro SS 396 only getting 4 mpg during the first gas crisis in the 70’s when driven on the street.
