I was given an Adam's foam gun. It's designed to hook up to a regular garden hose fitting. I've used it with the garden hose, but think it would work much better with a pressure washer. I'm wondering what brands / models of pressure washer forum members use and recommend?

I don't think I need a big gas-powered one, and dont' really want to have to store a big, gas-powered one. Reading reviews at Amazon, it looks like most of hte inexpensive ones are junk that can be expected to fall apart after the warranty is up.

Any suggestions?

Hate to say this but ---- you get what you pay for. I use the gas with a Honda engine but there are good electric ones but expect to pay 400 or a lot more... That is me--would rather cry once and get the good ones. Like the gas because of the GPM's it puts out. Can use it for other things as well.

Try changing your soap, that may help a little

I bought a Sun Joe SPX3001 for that. It seems to have the highest GPM rating of the electric pressure washers + good reviews. It does a decent job with my TORQ foam canon. The TORQ puts out good foam with my Gyeon foam solution but the Chemical Guys Honeydew is kinda weak. Chemical Guys say you need about 1000 PSI and about 3 GPM to get good results from a foam canon. That eliminates all but the super expensive electric ones. If you want that super thick foam you see in the pro videos, you need high GPM which means gas.

Too much $$ for a weekend detailer, unless you are obsessive about stuff. I am...and I think foam is fun, but more of a novelty unless you have a bunch of really expensive rides with immaculate paint that don't see much road use.

I have the Adams foam gun. Works fine with garden hose pressure. It should have come with multiple small internal nozzle pieces. Make sure there is one installed inside the gun and it is the appropriate one for the result you want. The nozzles are of various colors and came with some documentation of the opening size for each color. I would suggest contacting Adams if you need that info. I will also look for mine and post if I can find it.

I know you said no gas powered, but I bought a Power Horse from Northern Tool for $350 back in 2009 and we use it all the time to do the house, the cars, etc. It has never failed to work properly and just keeps running strong. One of the best tools I've ever bought. It does 3000PSI and we recently got a Chemical Guys foam gun and it works fantastic with it.

+1 from my side.. I'm user of sun joe SPX3000 also. I was wondering if you also read reviews from Find Power Washer website? Sun joe is listed as editor's choice, that's why i bought that one

I am planning to buy a Sun Joe too, not sure which model. I also saw some inexpensive Foam Cannon on Amazon, and also some very expensive ones. Is the rule "you get what you pay for" valid for those too? We are talking about a bottle and nozzle at the end of the day.
20 $ vs 90+$ ..I don't know if trusting the big names is a smart choice for a weekend detailer like me

After a couple years the brass (?) fittings are looking green and a bit worn, but still work fine. For the price difference, i would still grab the cheaper units. If they need replaced in 5 years or so, still cheaper than some of the brand name models. If ur a pro and using these things daily, agreed, the pricier units would hold up much better.

I agree with your point. I am already looking at a pressure washer that is not the most powerful out there, and I am kinda trusting Amazon's reviews. Will wait for the BlackFriday stuff and pull the trigger. At the moment I am leaning towards SunJoe SPX3001 and MATCC foam cannon.
Is any of you using the Chemical Guys soap ?

AlbertVanK - everyone has their own favorite... i have had good luck using their honeydew snow foam shampoo. I find that it suds up the best using the foam cannon and it smells great. You will find it gets great reviews on some of the detailing sites. Now with that being said, i don't prefer it in the bucket. I go with Meguiars gold for the bucket because it seems to hold up longer and is less expensive.

I have a honda ex5000 generator, i want to run my 1.5 baldor motor 1000 psi cat pump electric pressure washer off the generator. It runs fine off a 15 amp breaker outlet from the house. I figured the generators 20 amp outlet would be fine for the job. Hooked everything up turned on the pump and after about 30seconds it killed the generator, stopped it dead. So then i figured i would try the 30 amp outlet, same thing. I know the outlets work because i have a big dewalt compressor that runs just fine using the 20 amp outlet, and a vacuum extractor that draws 20amps that i use just fine in the 30 amp outlet. Why is the pressure washer shutting the generator off. I have seen guys in my line of work that have build breaker panels that plug into the generator and have outlet off the breakers is this something i should be doing for my pressure washer.

Update!
I bought a SunJoe pressure washer and the cheap amazon foam cannon. The SJ is just ok, definetly not as puwerful as advertized, but that's fine, it's gentle . I also bought the HoneyDew ChemicalGuyz soap, which is terrific.
I tested these itmes Versus my Jeep GranchCherokee, and the results are terrific!
I do not regret I didn't buy a more powerful or expensive washer. Only concern is the water hose that is really short. My model is the SPX3001 with the reel, any of you have this and changed the hose to a longer one?

Sorry if this is high jacking but has anyone used a foam cannon that connects to an air compress as opposed to a pressure washer? Trying to decide which is the best way to go.

Hello ctpj, you have basically two options, foam cannon (connected to pressure washer) or foam gun (connected to garden hose), I have not seen anything that connects to an air compressor, but you never stop learning so.. if you have an example that would be interesting.
