What transmission did you go with, and why?

  • I preferred an automatic, but got a manual for some reason.

I heard the take rate on the automatic has been unexpectedly low so far. What did you order, or buy off the lot, and why?

Please note, this is not a thread meant to tell others they are wrong; people have their own reasons, and if it works for them, that is all that matters. I am just curious about your personal thoughts on the subject, and how things are working for you. That is all.

Thanks!

I bought off the lot and had my choice of auto or manual in the color I wanted. I choose the 7 speed manual simply because I enjoy driving experience of a manual transmission. The car I traded in for the Vette was a 2001 GT Bullitt Mustang and it too had a manual transmission.

I ordered RedHot with the automatic. I have had multiple sports cars with manuals and decided I would enjoy the C7's impressive horsepower more with the auto and paddle shifters. I have had no second thoughts about my decision, now that I have more than 3000 miles on her including many twisties, several 0-60 timed runs, several high speed runs in controlled environments, driving through the mountains and some extended periods of stop and go traffic. The power delivery has been outstanding as has the overall mpgs.

Ordered the automatic... Owned enuf sticks , this transmission is smooth and effective

Not sure the take rate for the A 6 is that small...
I don't think the A6 take rate is small, I just think the M7 take rate is higher than they have had on the last few generation of cars. I know when I look on the large dealer inventory lists the A6's outnumber the M7's almost 2 to 1 but in the past I believe the A6 take rates were closer to 80%.

we ordered my wife's C7 on Nov 1. She choose the automatic and I must say that I will be very happy she did. Just sold our modified '10 LS3 2SS. Obviously being the LS3 it tells you that it was the 6 speed. Love a manual just fine but this will be my 1st sports car with the auto. Anxious to try it out. I hope it isn't too much longer of a wait. She ordered the 3LT Z51 package with performance exhaust.

I am sure the local take rate is not the same as the national take rate. Also, I am not sure if the sales guy was telling the straight up truth, or exaggerating.

i ordered an automatic for one primary reason I don't want to deal with the n.y. traffic problems that so often occur . i have driven stick vets for the past 16 years and i just want a change (I'm sure I'll be sorry).

I will be ordering a manual. With a manual, you really are more connected to the car, and the exhaust sounds are intoxicating. My last two corvettes were manuals, and my current Dodge Challenger is a 6 speed with a Corsa cat back exhaust, as I said, the sounds are intoxicating. Looking forward to the NPP............. That being said, I have two other cars, both autos, to drive in heavy traffic.

I ordered and received an A6. My husband already has a 2013 C6 manual and I do a lot of stop and go driving to work. I don't really enjoy driving a manual in that kind of traffic. Additionally I have issues with my wrists and I don't think my wrists would have handled the constant shifting very well. I do enjoy driving a manual but more so in freeway driving.

The new seven speed manual is a great transmission. The six speed auto is so vastly improved from the C6 auto that it too is a really great transmission.

Automatic for me,too much like work shifting gears and my wife does not know how to drive a manual. One of my biggest fears is having a heart attack while we are out for a ride and her not being able to drive me to the hospital, that would really suck!

I bought the manual because I enjoy The driving experience. My everyday cars are automatics. The manual makes me feel one with the car and adds exhilaration to driving.

Test drove the A6....it was OK but not as fast as a dual-clutch Audi. Bought a C7 with the M7. Thought I knew how to shift my hot rods for the last 45 years, but rev matching showed me I suck. Rev matching is cool!!

Locked this thread after editing a couple of recent posts. This is a friendly forum and all StingRay choices are great ones. If we like one option, does not mean that a person who has the opposite option or opinion is wrong or second class.
