Now that the time seems to be nearing to pick up my new C7, I'm trying to comprise a list of questions to ask my dealership before I drive away. Initial thoughts/list:

  • How many miles for run/break in period
  • What to avoid during run/break in period
  • Service/Change what after run/break in period
  • Service intervals
  • Consumable items, frequency
  • Special fluids
  • Where to get service/repairs made
  • Operating standard vs. custom tune
  • Best tune for gas mileage vs. performance
  • Tire speed rating
  • Estimated realistic top speed of car
  • Max time at top speed allowed
  • Operation of car what to avoid, dump clutch, etc...
  • Down shifting
  • Minimum time/distance operation (no short drives to grocery store bad?)
  • Tire rotation schedule
  • Tire pressure
  • Warranty process
  • Steering adjustment, explanation
  • Traction explanation
  • Gauge cluster usage
  • Navigation instruction
  • Main panel instruction (different options)

I think this might help, but it is a lot to take in at one sitting. If you get all this info squared away in "your" head you will be the C-7 "Master" and we all will be coming to you for answers. ;) Good luck!

I am a bit confused by some questions on your list. You ordered an automatic didn't you? You won't have a clutch to "dump", downshifting (and upshifting) are governed by the CPU and will not allow you to over rev the engine. Your dealer will take time to walk you through everything you need to know (and most of your questions) before letting you drive off the lot. They are going to special training on the C7 to ensure you are comfortable and knowledgeable with how to enjoy and safely drive your new C7.

I certainly hope you're correct. As an ex-dealer rep, I can't imagine that dealerships will invest in training all reps, especially since this is a low volume unit. I do know that one guy in my large dealership will get schooled. He has at least 15 units on order. Unfortunately, he's not my rep.

If you feel your rep can't properly walk you through your new C7 and answer all your questions, ask for the other individual to join you at your delivery.

Yes, thanks. That's exactly what I plan to do. It's common practice for one sales rep to "grease" another when there is insufficient time or knowledge for a delivery. In dealerships where thiere is strong camaradarie, that's not a problem. In other places, it will cost a rep about a hunge to get help. Here's hoping they all do it right!

One question I will ask my sales rep is that if the "transport car cover" isn't offered, please, where it is and please bring it to me. If fact, I would be having this conversation with several folks including the PDI supervisor a week or two before it arrives, so they a) know it belongs to the customer, and, b) don't just cut it off the car when it arrives, instead carefully removing it and putting it aside for you.

Hi Jsvette - I actually started the list in order to work for everyone. It would be nice to have one compiled that anyone on this Forum can use. Yes, I'm getting an automatic, but my husband is considering ordering the standard at a later time. I truly appreciated your post today... very informative!!! I'm so happy for you :)

Stores eligible to order the Stingray still must meet several requirements ahead of the late summer launch.

For example, they must have Corvette Stingray specialists in sales and service.

And those sales specialists must complete a 1 1/2-day training session at the 2014 Corvette Stingray Dealer Sales Academy at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nev. The cost is $2,000 per attendee, excluding travel expenses.

Congrats, YllwStgr, on your new baby. At least you wont have to get up at 2am to feed this one. I see you have VIN #0177!

As for your questions, many of them can be answered here:

Are you doing museum delivery?
Not doing museum delivery only for one reason... because I'm the #1 order at my local dealership, they want to have a little shin-dig to celebrate with my vehicle. Trust me, no one will be able to "touch" my C7... as the ropes will be about 10 feet away. Hey, thanks for the link! I truly appreciate it.
