Have a deposit down on a non Z06 2015 C7. Would like to know what specifically about the Z06 is attracting those of you who are going to purchase one given the higher price?

- Is it the extra few 10ths in the quarter or zero-60?
- Is it because you are serious trackers?
- Other options that the normally aspirated C7 won't have?
- Just general kick in the pants acceleration?
- The wider/leaner/lower/meaner look?

This post is not meant rhetorically, would truly like to know what is driving those of you who are going the Z06 route.
I could possibly be persuaded.

Thanks

I have been waiting on the 2015 for various reasons, and, some months ago, while waiting, it dawned on me to ask the dealership, "If I put a second deposit down on a Z06, can I use both deposits on whichever car I eventually get?" They said yes, and I put the second deposit down a few months ago on the Z06.

Why did I do that? When I saw pictures of the Z06 during the January reveal, I fell in love with the, as you said, "wider/leaner/lower/meaner" look. I also love the front grille on the Z06.

I don't care about the speed or HP. 230-300 is all I need to be happy (be able to accelerate quickly to merge with traffic). With that, I am good.

Oh, but the looks...!

Hey Rodney,

How much and where did you put a deposit?

Boardwalk in Redwood City. Their standard price for any Corvette deposit is $1,000.

No, they did not. No one knows yet what it will be. This site has been full of rampant speculation, and fun game-guessing, for a long time.

P.S. We had better let this thread return to its original topic.

No problem! Thanks Rodney.

I would get the Z06 if I had the extra money. I love the looks and power.

last year I ordered a Z51 Sting as it had not arrived in January I got sick of Z06.

Since we do not pay up, a Vette every year I decided to treat myself, with all its trapes air its mechanical monster and his evil look.

In life should be fun from time to time, as I like to drive this is my little summer fun.:cool:

1. Stage 2 Aero....looks great and the Sting doesn't have it;
2. That includes the aggressive spoiler...better than the Z51;
3. Better styling than the Sting...wider, more aggressive vents, better front grille, bigger tire/wheels;
4. Engine....well not much to say....first ever Corvette with a Supercharger!
5. A8 transmission, but that is also now available in the Sting..wasn't going to be, so that was a big one for me.

Basically, the Z06 (I had the first year Z06 in 2001) is the King of the Hill and has the looks, functionality and mechanicals to go with that designation. Of course with all of that comes the higher price....so.....

Any more questions? :)

Ready for a contrary opinion??

I get what the Z06 is all about and I'd love to have the extra power but the way is looks just doesn't do it for me. I think the looks of the Stingray are a home run and all of the 'improvements' detract from the clean look. With one notable exception, the grille.

Bob, we're totally on the same page, well...... Perhaps except for our color choices, but Ditto on all the rest of it...

Looks, power, ability to carve country roads, and powerful presence. Also, more juice than my C6 Z06 will be nice, and part the decision.

I am interested in the look and performance. If the reps who have been promoting the car are true to the words "if you could afford the old ZO6 you can afford the new ZO6" keeping in mind that some people bought the plain, no frills ZO6 because that is what they could afford. It will be a smart purchase. Also honoring the statement made "A ZO6 with all the boxes checked, it will be hard to top $100,000.00" these things all together will either produce a very good car at a good price or a false advertised over priced car that would risk suffering the same outcome as the SRT Viper.

BOBSZ06...1st ever supercharged Corvette? Google C6 ZR1. New Z06 will be the 1st factory supercharged Z06. That's true!

Back to the thread...

Stingray looking a little "scrawny" since seeing the Z06. Same thing happened to the base C6 when the last Z06 came out, so GM responded with the Grand Sport.

Since they don't yet make a C7 Grand Sport, I'll be in a Z06, if base pricing arrives close to the 2013 Z06. Hoping for $79,995 incl destination.

Plus, I love low RPM torque. Having to keep an engine above 4000 RPM to keep it in the optimal power band is not my thing. Current gen turbo and supercharged motors torque peak is generally found under 2000 RPM. Good stuff and addictive once you experience it.

lol.....yes I have red blood in me and my Z06 will be no different.

I think those of us that select the Z06 simply want a high performance Corvette. And that then takes us to THE high performance Corvette, THE Z06.

I agree the Stingray is a home run! The Z06 well that's a grand slam. :D

I keep waiting to see a Stage 1 without camo, for while, candidly, the huge front corner winglets on a Z07 are my idea of functional, they are not my idea of pretty. And on a stage 1, putting a Z-51 deck spoiler on similar on it, as per the following picture (or even if it grows a little for the greater rear downforce they are looking for), will also be tasteful. There were more than a couple of folks at the Bash who didn't like either the Z07 corner winglets, nor the rear spoiler. To each their own, for IMO, the whole C7 is a good looking "family."

Elegant, for me, I really like this look. I think a Stage 1 would be a sweet spot for me.

Think I agree with you. Had considered the Z06 but have finally made up my mind to stick with the Z51 LT3. Placed my order for the 2015 Coupe last Nov. Also agree with the grill on the standard C7. Yuck. But I'll live with it. :p I certainly understand those who want the power and the styling though, but not sure where I'd use it. I track my bike and plan to track the C7 too. I currently own among my two bikes a Kawasaki Concours 1400. Low 10s quarter mile, and 2.3 sec zero - sixty. And it's not even a full out sport bike. Think the standard C7 will do just nicely. No production car will ever beat that. Different strokes etc.

Looks ugly in all those black and white swirls. Maybe in 2016. Lets watch the reviews.
