With some of the worst roads in the country in Michigan and a horrible winter that has left potholes, loose rocks, cracks in the seams of most of the local roadways, I’ll need to protect my car from these road hazards. I’m looking into getting paint protection film.

I’m trying to gage what is a fair price to have XPEL Ultimate installed on my car. I’ll have the front fascia (bumper) done up to the seam at the bottom of the hood, side rockers / lower doors, mirrors and headlights. They said they will do a custom application, since it covers where the pre-cut kits leave off. If you had similar surface areas done, please share with me what you paid. You can PM me or post in this thread if you like. Your input is greatly appreciated.

I don't have a car yet but got a quote for bumper, half hood, half fender, mirrors and rocker panels, and headlights $1,641
Breakdown is the following using SUNTEK film:
bumper, half hood, half fender, mirrors $799
Rocker panels $499

Using xpel for the above coverage? +$259
Headlights $84

Everyone out there that has had this done am I being overcharged?
Remember I am in California so things cost more here then the east coast, I look at the home prices back east home and think with the sale of my home in California and move to the east coast or Midwest I would have a Castle and large property

Seems to be the going rate. Having mine done this weekend, the partial version (what you described) is $770, headlights are and additional $50. This is in Houston, so not much difference in price.

I am having this done however I am doing the whole hood, whole side panel back to the doors, mirrors, front bumper and lights. I was quoted $1,600 but I am good friends with the owner of the shop doing the job. He claims the normal price would be $2,300. Said some are doing their whole cars in XPEL. Hard to spend this kind of money but worth the investment if it works as well as I am hearing.

Had the Xpel done in Tampa by Auto Paint Guard, has been in business for 15 years, very professional operation and pays attention to every detail....front bumper, headlights, partial on hood and front fenders, door guards and door handles....850.00. 10 year guarantee. He told me to bring back at 5 years and he will replace everything for just labor....

Mine came in about the same price. Don't wax the stuff. Use what is recommended for cleaning etc. well worth the costs.

I was quoted $2,030 for full hood, mirrors, full fenders, and front bumper. This product is Suntek. The installer stated he has been doing this for over 15 years and will not use pre cut pieces. The installer stated he cuts film to fit car and rolls all edges so you will not see one seam. Anybody else in DFW had clear bra installed or received a better quote?

Have any of you thought of looking at the cost for a full wrap of the car? I've seen it done on other cars like this McLaren in the photo but I really don't know if there would be a cost advantage. Land vehicle Vehicle Car Supercar Automotive design

Portis, welcome from a Kentucky native and graduate of U.K.

I have been thinking about doing what you propose with a full wrap, but I have not yet looked into prices. It is still a ways off for me as I don't have the car yet.

I would not do the full wrap because it will take away a little from the nice shiny finish of your paint, when it's all said and done it's still a film that will not allow your car to shine to its fullness. However I do believe fully on doing it to the front and side mirrors where rocks and debri will hit it.

I'm not doing my full car as I think it will take away from some of the shine. I am doing front bumper, 1/2 hood, mirrors, rocker panels and door sill area to avoid people getting into my car that may have rings on (regret not doing that on my truck).

I got the whole hood, hood vents, bumper, headlights, and fenders covered as well as the front of the side mirrors. I wanted the entire side mirror covered, but they said the shape was very hard to cover without creases since you have to stretch the material to two directions. Anyways everything turned out pretty well, it's not 100% perfect, but with such difficult contours on the bumper I didn't expect it to be perfect. When you are less than 3 ft away and you're really looking for it, you can see the edges that aren't wrapped around, but when more than 3 ft away it is really hard to see any difference. My total cost was $1950. Here is a picture of the front below [sorry for the giant picture, I thought you would want to see more detail]. Please take note of the reflection between the fender and the door. The Xpel material matches the shine of the bare paint very well, and it's really hard to see any difference especially if you cover the entire panel.
