We reported that there could be some Stingray Price Gouging going on, but this is a little ridiculous... Here in the States, we can go down and pick up a new C7 for about 58 Large, yeah? Well not in China. They will be plunking down about 1.5 million yuan, or $245,000 US Dollars! (depending on the strength of the yen... Ha!) The reason for this incredible price is going to be the "various taxes and fees, and for various reasons, the domestic price of the car should be around 1.5 million." Sounds like the Chinese government does not like the thought of importing US products, only exporting products to the US.

Or they will just copy the thing and make their own version like they have been doing with so many cars lately.

If you can read Chinese, you can check out the original article, or translate the page with that Google Translator thingy.

Like the fact that tied for highest-rated "made in America vehicle," specifically for US parts content, is the StingRay!

There's not much of a middle class over there. The average working guy is nowhere close to ever buying one and the affluent people would have no problem with that kind of money...
True, it's out of reach of most people in China, but car sales in general are very strong in China - it's the world's largest market for new vehicles.

Almost 22 million cars were sold in China in 2013[1], and GM sells more cars in China than the US[2].

1- China Car Market Up 14% to 20 Million Sales - Business Insider "Sales in China, the world's biggest auto market since 2009, surged 13.9 percent to 21.98 million vehicles last year"
2- GM sells more cars in China than US again - MSN Autos "GM and its joint ventures sold a record 3,160,377 vehicles in China in 2013. By comparison, GM sold a total of 2,786,078 vehicles in the U.S. last year."
