GM's relationship with Mobil 1 has been re-kindled, returning to the past of all Corvettes in recent history, save an except the last year or two when GM used Dexos 1 as its factory fill. As we remember, all C5 Z06's and C6Z06's used Mobil 1 oil. All Z-51 StingRays will now use Mobil 1 also.

ExxonMobil Announces Mobil 1 Lubricants Technology Relationship for Chevrolet Corvette!

ExxonMobil today announced a new lubricants technology agreement with General Motors (GM) for the Chevrolet Corvette. As part of the relationship, Chevrolet has chosen Mobil 1™ motor oil as factory fill for the highly anticipated 2015 Corvette Z06 and the 2014 Corvette Stingray with the Z51 Performance Package.

Building on a 21-year lubricants relationship with ExxonMobil, Chevrolet also named Mobil 1 5W-30, which meets or exceeds GM dexos1® specifications, as the recommended service fill for all Corvette models. In addition, for on-track and high-performance applications, Chevrolet is recommending owners use Mobil 1 15W-50 to ensure full engine protection and optimal engine efficiency*.

“It is a testament to ExxonMobil’s commitment to advanced lubricant technology that Chevrolet has chosen Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil for the high-performance Corvette engines,” said David Tsurusaki, strategic global alliance manager, ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants. “As the Corvette Stingray hits roads around the world, we want Corvette owners to know that Mobil 1 motor oil is specifically designed to meet their high-performance demands and will help keep their engines running like new.”

With a factory-fill relationship that began in 1993, ExxonMobil has a legacy of helping Corvette engines perform at their maximum with Mobil 1 lubricant technology. Mobil 1 motor oils are designed at the molecular level and enhanced with a proprietary additive system to provide outstanding protection against wear, high heat, cold weather and sludge buildup.

In addition to select production Corvettes, Mobil 1 lubricants drive efficiency and power for Corvette Racing’s C7.R in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. With Mobil 1 lubrication technology, the Corvette team competes in some of the most demanding endurance races in the world including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The article is not explicit. The way I would check is to raise your hood and see if the oil fill cap says so (as it used to for decades of Corvettes).

Since the article starts off with the words, that today "ExxonMobil announces"...., think yours does not.

I wonder what the dealerships will use to change my oil? Mobil1 or Dexos 1

dexos1 is a rating, not an oil....I've always read .the 2014's are coming with a semi-syn acc to posts on the web...if you change your oil regularly, and it's a DD, not a track car, it's fine to keep using it....it gotta be a typo about 14 z51s?

I've only used Mobil 1 in all of my cars since 1994. Even my John Deere.
I use synthetic in everything as well (mowers, snow blowers, etc.) although I'm no longer married to Mobile 1.

I think all major brand "fully" synthetic oils are equally good, and superior to non-synthetics.

I generally get whatever is on sale at Autozone (their 5-quart plus filter deal) - but now I'll need to buy 2 more quarts.

I'ts still not clear to me why GM decided the LT1 small block now needs 7 quarts, when 5 quarts worked just fine for small block chevys since the 60's.

Oh well, more oil is good for longevity.

John, thank you for the update! The article says 2015 Z06 and 2014 Z51 will get Mobil 1. It does not say 2015 Z51 will. I know it is a logical guess that the 2015 Z51 will also get Mobil 1 also, but can we determine that for sure? Also, just out of curiosity, why are the non-Z51 not getting it, too?

You're lucky guys in the USA... the price for 1 liter of Mobil 1 over here is $ 25.00 !!!!! It's always the same thing with the marketing : a real rip-off

The below was included in my Z06 owner's documentation...car was built on 12/03. Second attempt to attach....the image was upside down in my first, but seems to be correctly orientated on my computer???

Text Technology Font Electronic device Multimedia

Still upside down, perhaps someone can correct, or download and rotate...it is correctly oriented when opening in another window...key verbiage is "Corvette recommends Mobil 1" in the silver box...

BUT...I think we've proven repeatedly it does not matter what PR release, what cap you have, what the owner's manual says, dealers are gonna do what they wanna do, until GM makes a universal global statement on this via bulletin the Serv Mgr can read, it will remain the wild west on this subject...

Yes but the first 5 oil changes are free so why pay if you don't have to. As Glen says it's still the wild west out there until the dealers get something in writing saying fill with Mobile 1.

Your import taxes must be driving the price of the oil so high. If not take a trip over here to the U.S. go to Walmart and buy several cases of 5 quart containers of Mobil 1 for $25/container and carry it back in your luggage. At 10 quarts per oil change I.e. -$250, you'll be many $ahead!LOL PS love your color selection. Have an A8 Shark Gray, 3LZ Z06, blk/blk vert with a 3400 order Status and a TPW of 2/2. Cannot wait!
