Seems to me the camouflage probably just attracts more attention. Especially on a car which is just a trim update to an existing car; the general public would have no idea it was a prototype.
Well, maybe that is part of the idea. It is free marketing as they drive them around. It not only gets the attention of people on the roads, but more importantly it gets the attention of car magazines...
