If GM were completely satisfied with 3M industrial two sided tape, IMO the best tape that there is, GM would have avoided tons of cost and effort involving the current bolt on method.
Sure someone has done it and it happy with it, but will it hold if you are in an accident, or will it fly off and capitate someone. Like Jeff, not a risk I would take.
