I'm 59 and soon turning 60, but here is my take.
When I am out and about, young kids come up to the car with longing and awe. They want me to fire up my "race car". I have a Magna Flow exhaust and it virtually explodes at start up. I usually let them push the auto start just to watch their faces as they ignite my rocket.
Old dudes come up and walk the car and they have longing and awe. But unlike the kids who think about what could be, old guys think about what was. It takes them to a time when they were young and liked to go fast. Way before they gave up their cherished ride for a mini-van.
I think for our group, we have chosen a Vette because we are not moved by Porsche, Lambo or Ferrari's because we know our cars are as powerful, fast and handle as well at 1/2 the price. We are not into flexing, we are into performance and value. We also like to drive our cars and not have to have a mechanic on staff. I think this is why we skew to being older. We just know better!
