Haven't given this much thought of late, but after cleaning the tips, and I'm sure there is a logical reason, so why do the outers get dirtier than the inners?

If you have not seen/read my earlier post on this thread, # 19. It has a link to cheap, useful black microfibers referred to below.

I had my exhaust tips (complete outsides and the inside "outer 45 degree" 1 1/2" ends), CQuartz D-Lux'd when new, and since then all I have needed/done is my black microfiber rag and a little saliva. Still as SUPER shiny as they were when new. However, other than when I run back to back errands, each time I park it, out comes the moistened MF -- taking about 20 seconds to do all four.

My black MF's have been cut into 1/8's, and when used, place them inside my marked, exhaust-only-use Ziplock, grab a clean MF the next time. Easy peasy.

I use Simichrome with a Mother's cone shaped applicator in a drill to clean them when they get really dirty. Then wipe them down with alcohol to get the residual Simichrome off and coat them with CQuartz. After that, they stay clean for a long time with nothing more than a quick wipe with a microfiber.
