Hey there my fellow C7 owners, I've had an issue with my alignment since the day I purchased the car and have been back to the dealership twice to get the car re-aligned. Finally, after not being satisfied after the second alignment, I decided to bring the car back for a third time and the issue was finally identified; apparently my car had a faulty steering gear! The part is being overnighted and it should be in the shop for about 2 days (assuming installation and road testing results are good).

I just thought I would post my experience in case there are any other C7 owners who are experiencing similar issues.

Thanks for posting this Sunny M3. An interesting resolution not typically associated with alignment. Look forward to your update.

Sunny_M3, does the car pull to the right? If so, this is a commonly known problem that has happened to so many people that there is now a Technical Service Bulletin out now to tell technicians the "tricks" to get it fixed.

See Chip's Problems and Resolutions Thread here on the forum. I think he has a link to the TSB on SandyBlogs.

Yup! Its a pull to the right and the problem is much worse in Sport mode. The service folks mentioned that the faulty steering gear was preventing them from aligning the vehicle properly. Also, thank you for mentioning the Problems and Resolutions thread, I'll definitely check it out.

My 2014 pulls to the right - even after an alignment last week.

I gave the TSB info to the Service Advisor when I took it in for the service but I'm not sure if they tried any of the "tricks" to get it fixed.

The steering position torque sensor needed reset so they reprogrammed that and the tires were cross rotated and the pull to the right was still there.

They said they have a call in to GM to see what they may have to say.

Good luck with your steering gear change Sunny_M3.

You know, I wonder how much of this could be fixed by the technicians having enough patience to leave it up on the rack twice as long and really try to get it dead-on instead of just in the "green".

It's possible with the new electronic power steering that the defect causing the pull and preventing them from aligning the car is part of the "on center" electronics. If one of the sensors is bad or miss aligned the rack will shift left or right of center and you will have to constantly correct. Usually there is a calibration routine in the service system to reset the on center calibration but if that fails the unit must be replaced. That would also explain why in sport mode it's more obvious since the effort to fight the rack's pull is higher.

Hello everyone, I just got the car back after the fix; apparently, they had to replace the entire steering rack! The car does feel straighter, but I am still in the process of testing it. Furthermore, I do still notice a slight reluctance of the steering wheel to remain centered, but I'll confirm after testing. I'll also make sure to post the part number ASAP!

Mine pulled fairly aggressively to the right at 3000 miles when I purchased it used. as long as you held the wheel or you were on a crown slanted left, the car would drive straight, but on level or right slanted road crowns, it would pull right if you released or lightly held the steering wheel. The dealer swapped sides for front and rear tires respectively (and filled them from 26 psi cold to 37 psi cold. The problem is for the most part solved.

I only asked them to top off the tires, but I found out they swapped sides when I saw the minor curb spot imperfection on one wheel moved to the other side. I looked at the service ticket and it stated that they rotated them.

Welcome to our forum jedblanks. I would suggest you lower your tire pressure down closer to the recommended cold pressure of 30 psi. 37 psi cold is very high and leaves little room for the normal heat up that occurs when you drive you Stingray.
