At the request of several of you... This will get all of the issues together in one location and allow other owners and would be owners to learn about the issues that owners are experiencing or discovering.

What's allowed:

Factual accounts of issues you encounter as a real owner of a real car. Provide as much detail, pictures, and documentation as you are able to talk about the issue.

Factual accounts or updates regarding resolution of issues that you or your dealer provided to solve a problem with your Stingray. If you solve a problem and post a separate update, please edit your original post that it was resolved and reference the post with the update if possible.

What's not allowed (This will be strictly enforced):

Anecdotal comments about first year models.
Comments about other model year Corvettes (even if they may relate to current equipment.)
Stories or issues you read about on other forums.
Posting about a problem "your friend" had with their car.
Posting that "your car is fine" or "I didn't have that problem."

The intent of this thread is to collect data and provide information for people who own a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hopefully we will see both problems and resolutions and allow a place for folks to learn how to deal with issues that they encounter. If you can provide content information (equipment group, options, etc.) about your car that would be welcome. If you can provide photos of the issue or video of the behavior, that would be welcome. If are willing to post your VIN number, that would be helpful so that others with VIN's in a nearby range can relate.

Let's see if we can keep this thread on topic and make it a useful place for new and would be owners to learn what is going on.

Hello. Here's my story.
In November 2014 I purchased my 2nd Vette, a 2014 Z51 3LT Laguna Blue convertible that has had an ever increasing number of issues.
To start, I noticed a crack and condensation collecting under the 3rd brake light lens and a buckling of the stripes on the spoiler on the trunk lid. Dealer replaced entire spoiler. They didn't correct the buckled stripes and left off the pieces of stripes over the spoiler.
Next, the HUD seemed slightly blurred. I was told by the dealer to check my eyeglasses prescription.
Then, after a biannual application of a "paint protectant" at the dealership, my beauty was covered with white residue, surface scratches, and the fabric of the convertible top was discolored and frayed. This led to the dealer replacing a "defective" top.
Next, large amounts of air noise coming from the passenger side of the vehicle which was not present prior to the top replacement. Dealer denies issue although it is loud enough that you cannot have a conversation or phone call without nearly yelling. There is a gap between the convertible top and the windshield and it is not equal distance when comparing it over driver and passenger side of car.
Radio malfunctions and info-tainment display "freezing". Dealer replaced battery after finding it had a dead cell.
Then, worsening HUD blurr. Dealer replaced HUD device in dash. Didn't fix it, but cut leather on dash during installation. Dealer had upholstery repairman patch it. Then dealer replaced windshield in another attempt to correct HUD. Now I have to tilt my head to the left to read HUD clearly otherwise it has a pinkish faded appearance.
In the last week, two more episodes of "frozen" info-tainment display that seem to correlate with trips lasting more than 10 miles. Unable to adjust radio channel, volume, or even turn radio off. Also when car placed in reverse, back up camera will not come on.
I have had phone conversations with Chevrolet Customer Service over the last few months and have been encouraged to keep returning to the dealer. You can imagine that the dealer is sick of me. Dealer says "nothing else we can do". No follow-up calls from Customer Service in weeks. Sent a package to Chevrolet with long letter and pictures detailing all of my Vette's issues. No response as of yet.
Any advice?

Have you documented, in writing, all the specific steps and followed sections 13.1 though 13.3 of your Owners Manual. If not, suggest that you undertake exactly that process, for that will involve a regional review? And if that does not resolve your cars issues, you have perfect paper trail should you wish to escalate further.

Best of luck.

So, my '14 Z51... infotainment system flickered and eventually died... took it to dealer and told them that and also that the radio reception has always been subpar. They replaced the entire system because they told me:

1. Flickering/dieing infotainment is a common issue
2. Upon looking up radio serial number and cross checking defective list, found that mine was on there.

Now it has been good, although not entirely confident that they programmed everything correctly (they told me that programming it is an all day thing as it is a slow link back to wherever they get the program)...

Seems to be working fine now, as well as the radiator that was replaced at 1k miles :)

Finally going to take my '14 in to have them 'look' at my similar flickering screen issue... In 2 1/2 years, it's probably done this a dozen to two dozen times (never started counting, since I thought it was just a 'glitch' that would pass). Was at the dealer yesterday for an oil change, and showed the service writer the PIC5934 number from previous screen issue posts... he said HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT THAT NUMBER WAS!!. Then he later said maybe it's a 'PI' number, which is only for repair techs... what? My C7 salesman is now a new car sales manager there (hell of a nice young man btw), so he should be able to help me get resolution. He listened intently to my issue, but said they can't do anything (like order the part) until my car is in for their examination. So will schedule that soon. Dealership, Holz, advertises they are the biggest Chevy dealer in Milwaukee (and Wisconsin?). So far, that hasn't appeared to be beneficial. Will keep posted.

Anyone have a good photo of a screen in the throes of the 'jitters' that they can post?

Official 2014 C7 Corvette Issue/Resolution Thread

So I just bought a 2016 z51 and have noticed some issues.... Was wondering if anyone has had the same.

So how's everyone's AC? I always have mine set to low and the air never seems to really get cold.... Sometimes even feels like the compressor kicks off and blows regular air out for a bit. Really weird.

Also at random times when I go to shift to 2nd gear it doesn't let me. I have to really put some forced into putting it into second.... This car is only a week old.... I put 170 miles on it so far. So maybe it needs some more breaking in? Anyways I'm going to set up a dealer appointment here soon....

I'm just curious if anyone else has had these issues before I commit to taking it in.....I don't trust dealerships with my vehicles lol.

The obvious thing could be the 19 mph rule, the car doesn't want you to shift 1-2 below 19 mph.
The other thing is you may have a trans like mine that's a little crunchy 1-2, until the fluid gets warm.

Not sure on the a/c. Someone's sure to jump in here and help out.

Welcome to our forum Legion'

I've gotten in the habit of double clutching my car on the first few shifts, it opens up second gear for a cleaner shift. Again only when she's cold.
How about sharing your build w/us?
Sounds like you're aware of the 19 mph thing?

Is it true that infotainment screens are temporarily unavailable? Dealership finally agreed that there is an issue with mine, but now they say it could be a month for a replacement screen to come in!!! And mine is getting progressively worse now, sometimes blank during start up.

My wife's '14 is currently at the dealer for this problem, and that's what the service adviser told her this morning. He said they would put the dash back together, and let us know when a new screen was available.

My Z51, 3LT, had 14000 on it when I bought it eight weeks ago. On my first trip to a track on July 9, I got 1.25 laps in before the engine ate itself.

The dealer said they found lots of metal in the bottom of the engine, six of eight connecting rod bearings spun and one main bearing spun. So the dry-sump system looks like, to me, it failed miserably.

The K&N permanent air filter was literally filled with oil and good only for the trash.

So now there is a 500 mile oil change and then it is between me and the molecules of the engine.

I understand that a shift linkage adjustment where they re-set the center point may fix this type of issue. An upgrade and way to fix this yourself would be to install a mgw short throw shifter. Good luck!

Al, that is great news, soon your C7 masterpiece will be back to 120%!

Not sure if I have an issue with my M7 transmission or not? Noticed something that seemed odd over the past several days, don't know if it existed before, and I just didn't notice it. First I noticed it in reverse if I push on the shifter, it will slowly 'ooze' over to the left like it's not restrained in that direction. Will also do this in 7th Gear, and now I've noticed that in 1st and 2nd the shifter can be pushed to the right in those two gears. But everything seems to be operating normally otherwise. Could some of you other folks with M7 give this a try and see what you get? Put the car in reverse and push on the shift knob to the left, see if it will smoothly slide over. Takes a firm push, just an attempt to 'rattle' the shifter feels normal. What the heck? I've got the MGW shifter (!).

Hi, what a great thread, thanks for setting it up. I have an issue with my Auto 2016 z06, any advice appreciated. She has 900 miles on and has had the 500 mile oil change. I like to run 0-60's on a 1.2 mile straight near my home (industrial estate, dead on a Sunday AM). I can normally just stick her in track mode, brake down hard, revs upto 2700, off the brake and away no problems 3.5-4 seconds. However yesterday, dry,sunny,60 degrees I tried this as usual but the revs would not pass 2000 even with my foot to the floor. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance

2014 Display

When my car was delivered in 2013 I had issues with the displays. The dealers I took the car to for repairs all told me what I was experiencing was normal, low light display levels, improper cruise control operation. Finally recently after getting a service manager from GM to intercede I took the car to another dealer who looked incredulously at me and said there was a maintenance bulletin out for a long time on how to fix the issues, the answer was reprogram several computers. In the process of doing that it was determined the instrument cluster was bad and the computers could not be programmed. Now 4 weeks later my car still sets in the dealers repair facility awaiting a new instrument cluster. None are available anywhere and there is a long list of cars awaiting new clusters to be built. I am told there are none available anywhere until new ones are built. My message is I am not sure I really trust GM. Unless it is a problem that car will not work, such as mine, dealers either do not know how to fix a Corvette or just don't want to be bothered.

Sorry to read of the issues you are having with your C7. That is very frustrating. You might want to send a PM to our Customer Service Team at "ChevroletCustomerCare" with your VIN and specific details for their intervention on your behalf. We try to post and alert members to the related service bulletins Stingray Corvette TSB/Recalls, and have had a number of thread specific to infotainment displays. Hope it gets resolved properly and soon.

owns 2018 Corvette C7 2LT

Hi all, I own a 2014 C7 Z51 2LT Automatic and in the past few months I've had numerous issues. The one I will share today, I have video of the noise, along with what was repaired.. after the 2nd trip to the dealer with video proof in hand. The odd howling / grinding noise would appear when going over 25 mph, maintaining a constant speed. See video attached for noise, which starts at about 5 seconds in. They ended up replacing the tork tube (@17k miles) because the drive line support front bearing shifted inside the housing. This is the SECOND time the driveline support has been replaced in the past 3 months. The first time (@ 16k miles) the car would violently shake and vibrate while in park or under 15mph along with a random popping noise, which I could best describe as a metal ping pong ball bouncing around in the engine, along with the sound in the video. (Spent over 3 weeks at dealer for the first time, the second time 1.5 weeks.) Have had the car back for a few days and day 1 When I would put the cat into park and attempt to turn the engine off, a warning would pop up to shift the car into park. I would have to hit the shifter a few times before it would catch and the car would turn off. As of today the electrical is going haywire now and is getting towed back to the dealer tomorrow because the engine will not turn over and the car is stuck in the AC position, with lights on inside. Tried jumping the battery and it still would not start. Key fob no longer works and vehicle does not respond (I tried replacing the key fob battery and it did not help.) Only way in is through the trunk. Even tried onstar with no luck. Will update with the most recent fix in about 2 weeks, because that's the average amount of time it stays at dealer for all my previous issues.
