At the request of several of you... This will get all of the issues together in one location and allow other owners and would be owners to learn about the issues that owners are experiencing or discovering.

What's allowed:

Factual accounts of issues you encounter as a real owner of a real car. Provide as much detail, pictures, and documentation as you are able to talk about the issue.

Factual accounts or updates regarding resolution of issues that you or your dealer provided to solve a problem with your Stingray. If you solve a problem and post a separate update, please edit your original post that it was resolved and reference the post with the update if possible.

What's not allowed (This will be strictly enforced):

Anecdotal comments about first year models.
Comments about other model year Corvettes (even if they may relate to current equipment.)
Stories or issues you read about on other forums.
Posting about a problem "your friend" had with their car.
Posting that "your car is fine" or "I didn't have that problem."

The intent of this thread is to collect data and provide information for people who own a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hopefully we will see both problems and resolutions and allow a place for folks to learn how to deal with issues that they encounter. If you can provide content information (equipment group, options, etc.) about your car that would be welcome. If you can provide photos of the issue or video of the behavior, that would be welcome. If are willing to post your VIN number, that would be helpful so that others with VIN's in a nearby range can relate.

Let's see if we can keep this thread on topic and make it a useful place for new and would be owners to learn what is going on.

Julie, my vehicle died again. I used the car, stopped home for 5 minutes and went to leave again. No power whatsoever, missed yet another meeting. Tried jumping the battery, no luck. The car has no power and called GM to have it towed to dealer. This was Saturday around noon. I waited for over 4 hours for flat bed to arrive. When it got here, the driver says you need to shift the vehicle into neutral, which obviously can't happen since it's dead. Driver pulls out some mini hand held battery jump and I said it won't work. He insisted. Of course it did not work. He left. Car still dead. I want to be clear that my service rep has provided excellent service and I have no complaints or issues what so ever with the customer service side of things. My issues are with how GM operates. I find it ridiculous that there are only TWO mechanics employed at the dealership to service a corvette. It's no wonder that so many complain about the time it takes for their vehicle to be ready. Furthermore, neither of these technicians work on the weekends. Seriously? With the amount of issues that arise for corvette owners, servicing these new vehicles should be a top priority. I understand it is the holidays, but GM needs to understand that too. Thanksgiving I did not have a working vehicle. Here we are Christmas and again I can't enjoy my car. I don't want a loaner, I want my vehicle... unless you plan on loaning me a corvette, which doesn't exist. Being stranded without a car a week before xmas is a nightmare. The service manager and my rep have gone above and beyond to do what they can, and I have no doubt that we will figure something out today to get the car running to get it into neutral to tow it to service. I hope it does not need a part that needs to be ordered because I know that takes time. It's time GM steps up and starts covering my payments on a prorated scale because my car is at the dealer more than it is with me. I will update once again with the status of the vehicle in a few days.

Is it possible the grounding bolt for the battery is loose?
You problem sounded like my problem; however it was self induced when I was installing a dash cam in the car and used the battery grounding connection to ground the camera. You have a negative lead that comes off the battery and goes about 18 inches or so towards the center of the car, and subsequently grounded via a bolt. After installing my dashcam I forgot to tighten the bolt back down and had the same intermittent problem. Sometimes start, sometimes not! I eventually discovered the problem, retightened the bolt...no more problem. I don't know if that is what is going on with yours, but sometimes the most simplest solution is the fix! Good luck and hope they uncover the deficiency.

Thanks Prometheus! A bad battery was the cause of the issue. Looking back, the week or so before it completely died there were some small signs that it was about to go bad. The first was the car needing to be jumped after sitting for a few days. I thought to myself it could have been the phone charger I left plugged into the USB port, so I made sure to unplug it when I wasn't using it. Then the engine would take a tiny second longer to start up and the key would not properly work sporadically (both unlocking and recognizing).

After experiencing what is actually required to remove the battery and put a new one in, i can say the location and design for where the battery sits is HORRIBLE. Its nearly impossible not to scratch the interior or your arms and hands. The battery issue was covered under warranty and am scheduled for service tomorrow because as a result of the change my power windows are not working at all.

After 7 weeks the problem was resolved, no thanks to the Chev Service center. They were less than helpful (worthless). My local dealer spend a lot of time contacting other dealers and found a service person who knew how to resolve the problem. In the meantime I had the heaviest most expensive paperweight sitting in a service bay in the dealership.

#425 ·
navyvette, it was unsat that your C7 masterpiece had to sit so long until the situation was squared away. Did the dealership loan you a vehicle the entire time? Hopefully since it's back to 120% you can get in some wheel time with the awesome weather we've been experiencing.

I dropped my vehicle off last week blindly assuming my broken power window was due to a bad fuse from replacing the battery. Unfortunately it was not. A new motor and window assembly was ordered and these parts are on BACKORDER. A power window motor. Seriously? The other issue I was experiencing was a shift to park warning I would get after shifting the vehicle into park and attempting to turn her off. I assume it has something to do with the torque tube that was recently replaced. I need my vehicle back before the end of the weekend so where are these window parts coming from? Do I need to call all around the US to find the parts myself? It's beyond frustrating. We also own imported cars, BMW and Mercedes. I sold my Porsche for the corvette. It does not take weeks to receive parts for imported vehicles, so why in the world do I have to wait weeks for made in the USA? If your going to charge top dollar for a vehicle I expect to receive prompt and quality service. Where are you at GM? Currently hand making to order my window assembly? Again, I don't want a rental. I want the vehicle I pay ridiculous money to own. MY Corvette, my car.

Has any one had any problems with there dash & console lid blistering ? Mine did. Its a 2014 C7 3LT-Z51 with the Premium Leather.

#428 ·
Hey Randy,

I was up in Harlan County during Thanksgiving. I was in Harlan and Evarts.

I haven't seen this on any other C7, but I have seen similar blisters when a car is left in direct sunlight for extended periods of time, and it gets HOT in there. I think the adhesive melts, and the leather lets go and blisters in the heat.

Did yours blister in the summer, or recently?

Take care, and I hope you get it all straightened out. Let us know how you get it fixed.

-Rodney

Sorry we missed each other, Would have like to of met you. The car is covered most of the time or in the garage , but sometimes it's not. I noticed the blisters when the temp dropped below 30* The main dash looks perfect only the dash trim & console lid blistered and my windows are tinted 5% to help with the heat and UV rays

#430 ·
Randy, my red leather center console lid started with little blisters like yours and over time it got a lot worse. It separated from whatever is underneath the leather and looked completely warped. When I brought it to the attention of my service rep, he didn't seem surprised. Apparently I wasn't the first to have the problem. They replaced it and the part was covered under warranty after they did their inspection process to make sure I didn't cause the damage somehow. The part had to be ordered so it took a while.

On a side note, I live in South Florida so the sun is brutal. All of our vehicles have leather and this is the first vehicle I have ever seen warp like this. Its a manufacturing defect, plain and simple.

I really appreciate your post and this thread. I understand that machines have issues HOWEVER you are all correct with the "overheating" on the "track ready"car. It's ridiculous. There was a problem (hence the new 2017 intercooler design) My brother and I have both experienced this and it is a KNOWN ISSUE. I think what we are all looking for here is at bare minimum an "I'm sorry" way of handling things. It has been my experience taking my car to 3 local dealers that I am bothering them and they want my car the out of there. I just want someone to wake up at corporate. I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of Corvette buyers are enthusiasts and are very passionate and familiar with what they are buying and how the product is supposed to function. I feel the same as you truly. I should have kept my "14

Ah, and there is another person who preferred their 2014 C7 to their new Z06...

It seems like GM went 99%+ of the way there to making a great car, but just fell off the end on some things which would be easy to fix if they would just do so (upgrade the 2015 and 2016 Z06 owners to the new SC design found in the 2017 if the customer has documented proof [like a PDR] that they went into limp mode on a track, and fix that lagging throttle progression in Tour on the Z06 A8).

Hi Gary, what was the solution to the problem?

2016 C7 stingray 1700 miles

Noticed this weird noise today and wanted to know if anyone knows it is. It went away but I first noticed it when I unlocked my vehicle and it lasted a good minute or two. I tried turning the vehicle on then off a couple times but that didn't help. Once it stopped I drove away and then heard it one other time.

Welcome to our forum. Unfortunately you did not provide either an audio file or any description of the "weird noise" so it is very difficult to provide any assistance.

I have a 16 Z06 with 2K miles on it. It misfires in 3rd gear when rolling it on. The misfire occurs at 5000-5200 RPM and continues until 6000 RPM. The engine must be 100 warmed up at least 200 degree coolant temp for the misfire to occur. I took my dealership's "A" Vette mechanic out with me so he experienced it as well. We finally got a fuel pressure code. The dealership swapped out the high pressure fuel regualator that resides under the intake and blower. The mechanic took it for a road test and the car is still misfiring. They claimed to contact GM and are awaiting GM instructions. My car has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks now, so I am getting tired of not having my car around. The dealership is working with me I feel and is doing what they can I think. I too was worried they might say why are you speeding or driving so fast when the misfire happens. They have been very cool about that understand it is a Z06 not a Chevette.

You are not reading his post correctly. You are missing the spaces between the dates and the mileages.

One thing to do immediately is have them check the fluid level of the rear differential.

A lot more information would be helpful for us to help you. Manual or automatic? Happens at all times, or at specific RPM's? Heard more when you add throttle, coast, or all the time? Mileage? Constant or intermittent whining? If you have a manual, does the whining continue when you put the clutch in and are coasting. Any vibrations when driving it? Is this a noise you hear more loudly when you raise the hood with the engine running? (These is a TSB on supercharger pulley problems effecting some cars.)

Your describe this noise as "loud"; can you help us learn how loud, etc, and best of all would be could you video tape that sound and share it with us?

Sorry to ask all these questions, and I am sure more will be asked in subseqent posts, but with your providing us more information we can begin to help answer your primary question (is this normal), and/or start to eliminate potential causes if we feel it is not.

Welcome to our forum N2272L. As elegant suggested in his post, a video would help us respond to try and figure out what the issue is with your Z06, but more importantly, it would be very helpful for you to provide to your service manager when you take it in.

Was this not heard when you test drove the car before final sign off?

I just preparing a video to take one off our daily drivers in to the dealer -- to have him find/fix an annoying dash rattle. A good Tech, listening to a video, can immediately rule in and out many things. IMO, your diff is suspect, as is your A8 and your torque converter (based on similar C7 with automatic issues others have had).

Best of luck. Please let us know what your Technician found.
