At the request of several of you... This will get all of the issues together in one location and allow other owners and would be owners to learn about the issues that owners are experiencing or discovering.

What's allowed:

Factual accounts of issues you encounter as a real owner of a real car. Provide as much detail, pictures, and documentation as you are able to talk about the issue.

Factual accounts or updates regarding resolution of issues that you or your dealer provided to solve a problem with your Stingray. If you solve a problem and post a separate update, please edit your original post that it was resolved and reference the post with the update if possible.

What's not allowed (This will be strictly enforced):

Anecdotal comments about first year models.
Comments about other model year Corvettes (even if they may relate to current equipment.)
Stories or issues you read about on other forums.
Posting about a problem "your friend" had with their car.
Posting that "your car is fine" or "I didn't have that problem."

The intent of this thread is to collect data and provide information for people who own a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hopefully we will see both problems and resolutions and allow a place for folks to learn how to deal with issues that they encounter. If you can provide content information (equipment group, options, etc.) about your car that would be welcome. If you can provide photos of the issue or video of the behavior, that would be welcome. If are willing to post your VIN number, that would be helpful so that others with VIN's in a nearby range can relate.

Let's see if we can keep this thread on topic and make it a useful place for new and would be owners to learn what is going on.

exhaust valve squeak

Dealership replaced the left side muffler assembly to try to correct the squeaking noise during exhaust valve actuation. Now there is a new squeaking noise when the mode selector is change from touring to sport and as seen in the picture enclosed the left side tailpipes do not line up with the right side anymore.

There have been several folks that complained of that squeak, but as far as I am aware you are the first to get a exhaust component replaced to fix it.(or try to) Was there a TSB or PIP issued that guided your dealer to replace the muffler? I don't know that I can suggest any help for you except to say; Return it to your dealer. Let us know what they do to fix this. By the way, most owners just used some light spray lubricant and squirted the shaft that have the vanes mounted on it. Not a long term fix by any means, but I haven't seen anyone mention this squeak for a while.

Is it just the perspective of the photograph, or do the two left pipes look different/bigger than the two right pipes?

If you are confident enough to allow your dealer to do your servicing I would have them install the right side and ensure both sides are aligned correctly and all works well.

All is well. I now have new left and right side exhaust assemblies. It too some work to line them up, they needed to make a round hole oval on one side. Valve squeaks are now gone. Side note, they replace front brake pads/pins and eliminated the occasional front brake squeal as well. Hey, now summer is over!

Wow, those are completely straight! It is a great picture. Thanks for posting it.

It is also wonderful to hear that they took care of your brake squeal as well.

It sounds like you have a fantastic local dealership up there in North Dakota.

I have a 2014 L3 Z51 Stingray that was having a jumping Infotainment screen. We never could get it to duplicate at the Chevrolet dealer. So, I took a 1 minute video of the screen jumping. This video was provided to the dealer who in-turn provided it to the GMC Technical Department. The GMC Tech was immediately able to ID the root cause, and shipped out a new radio unit including new screen and cable. The dealer installed the kit and since then for the last 5 days the screen has not even started to jump once. A note here is that it is very important to bring PROOF like a video off you camera or cell phone if the problem can not be duplicated at the dealer, and open an incident number with GMC Customer Support who will work with the dealer to make sure that your issue is resolved to your satisfaction.
This replacement radio assembly was not the same as the one that was originally installed at the factory into my Stingray. It had a different part/stock number. Unfortunately the dealer did not include part/stock number on my invoice.

I had the same problem with mine. I also took a video with my phone and stopped by the dealer. They asked me to email it to them and they passed it on to GM. They authorized the part order and had it at the dealership within 2 days. I was out of town for a couple weeks and they installed it when I returned. It took about 3-4 hours including an oil change and a program update for the seat issue. Done and Done!

I think I have the same issue with infotainment as well and a dealer appointment today. Here is a link to a video I made of it...is this what you were seeing?
http://webpages.charter.net/brian.orion/vidjump.mov

Sometimes it is just bottom half of screen that does it..sometimes the full screen. It can go a month without happening and then happen continuously for a few days. Sometimes lowering and raising the screen fixes it (or changes the portion of screen that is messed up) so I thought it was just a loose connection and not something that needs unit replaced.

I also have a short metallic squeek/squeal coming from outside the car every 20-30 seconds but only when the car is moving (its not the shocks or breaks, can happen when driving 30mph on level ground at constant speed)... I had torque tube replaced at 4k and I'm back up to 6k miles..I'm hoping this is not related to that issue building up again.

Brian; It might well be related to the torque tube, time will tell for sure. If you have a performance exhaust and you were not driving @ a steady speed I would guess that the noise you are hearing is related to the valves in your exhaust system, but the conditions you describe don't really fit that scenario. Can you ID where the noise is coming from? In the front, or from the back of your car?

#272 ·
Hopefully the dealer will be able to hear the noise in a test drive and at least localize the issue for you and then resolve it Brian. Certainly interested in what they find.

So we were experiencing very hard up and downshifts in our new Z06 automatic, Turns out there is a service bulletin out there that talks about "teaching" the trans to shift properly. We took the car back to the dealer, showed them the bulletin that the forum members provided and Voila, issue resolved and the car drives like a dream now. Doing a road trip in south Florida this weekend! Thanks Forum members

Glad to hear that the 'teaching' resolved your issues CandyZ06 and welcome to our forum!

Z06 misfiring over 6k rpms pretty bad..
Goes to service Tues. Bet they say they can reproduce and fix it because they won't floor the car or speed
_____

Anyone else have this problem?
I have 600miles
check your inhibition wires if there are firmly plugged. I had a similar issue and I found out that one wire was loose and I basically ran on 7 cylinders. another option would be that you got bad gas. that would explain a too early combustion of the fuel.

#280 ·
Misfires almost almost trigger codes, so that will help them identify the problem. Based on other posts, probably a bad fuel injector (partially clogged, etc.), or could be that cylinder's individual coil. Hope it is fixed soon! Please let us know how this turned out.
