At the request of several of you... This will get all of the issues together in one location and allow other owners and would be owners to learn about the issues that owners are experiencing or discovering.

What's allowed:

Factual accounts of issues you encounter as a real owner of a real car. Provide as much detail, pictures, and documentation as you are able to talk about the issue.

Factual accounts or updates regarding resolution of issues that you or your dealer provided to solve a problem with your Stingray. If you solve a problem and post a separate update, please edit your original post that it was resolved and reference the post with the update if possible.

What's not allowed (This will be strictly enforced):

Anecdotal comments about first year models.
Comments about other model year Corvettes (even if they may relate to current equipment.)
Stories or issues you read about on other forums.
Posting about a problem "your friend" had with their car.
Posting that "your car is fine" or "I didn't have that problem."

The intent of this thread is to collect data and provide information for people who own a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hopefully we will see both problems and resolutions and allow a place for folks to learn how to deal with issues that they encounter. If you can provide content information (equipment group, options, etc.) about your car that would be welcome. If you can provide photos of the issue or video of the behavior, that would be welcome. If are willing to post your VIN number, that would be helpful so that others with VIN's in a nearby range can relate.

Let's see if we can keep this thread on topic and make it a useful place for new and would be owners to learn what is going on.

I would think they are REQUIRED to find, diagnose, and fix OBD2 misfire codes. It's an emissions issue, so they can't just reset the code and say "couldn't help ya". Not if I'm right about the emissions part.

Now, if you think there's a misfire and the computer doesn't, the computer wins. And the computer is -far- more sensitive than you are I are, it can detect a misfire in something like 1/4 of crankshaft revolution. I believe using the trigger wheel it can spot an acceleration and deceleration of the crank between firing events. That's pretty fancy stuff at 6000rpm.

Don't worry too much, however - forced induction engines are far more prone to misfires, at least under boost. Remember in an ideal world, at 14.7psi of boost, you have twice the number of air molecules and fuel molecules that the spark has to jump across. The ignition system is designed for that, of course, unlike a car you just bolt a blower on. But it'll still be sensitive to any marginal components.

The good news is the techs don't have to be that clever. Likely if its misfiring it not only set a "Oops, I misfired" code but also something related to the injector or coil. Hopefully, anyway! Good luck!

Actually the rev limiter is not set any different during break in than it is with 100,000 miles on the clock. All that's different are the lights on the tach.

Well i hooked up HPTuners scanner and went back out.. and nothing.. ran perfectly smooth to redline.. car is still getting checked out since for some reason i cant get the misfire history on the scanner..
i have a video of the misfire pulls where on the video sounds like the speakers mess up but it is misfire,., basically sounds like overboost when spark plugs cant ignite the boost no more.. It was cold that day so might of been higher PSI .. could be loose spark plug wire.. could be a lot of things.. without datalog of it happening its hard to tell.. car could be sensing something wrong and pulling all the timing out..

the video is testing on empty highway so i cant post here.. PM if you want to see it..
Tues ill let you know what the dealer says.. ill try datalogging again tomorrow

I don't -think- there's a bypass valve or anything similar on the TVS, is there? So there's no overboost situation designed into the system (ie: can't really happen except if you exceed stock rev limits).

As soon as I see HPTunes though, I have to ask: what have you changed in the factory tune?

This isn't directed at your case, though in general: I love HPTuners as a product, but the notion that GM left a lot of power on the table in any modern EFI engine is quackery. Sure, you might get a little more aggressive with the timing and lean it out a little and perhaps pull another 15hp out of it above 6000rpm, but I've yet to see anyone demonstrate a measurable ET improvement, so I think it's 98% psychological. Now if you make changes to the physical combination, HPTuners is invaluable for compensating for this changes. But GM has something like 100,000 hours into an ECM tune - we have a couple of hours at best on a dyno and are going to "help" them somehow?

Anyway, back to your case - as is true for anyone, if you've increased the factory rev limit it's easily conceivable you're letting the engine run into boost and dwell territory it wasn't designed for. Just sayin.

No, because when dealership called GM they only gave 1st bulletin which teaches tran on the road. another person on this forum gave me 2nd bulletin & I gave it to dealership when I picked car up next day. Unbelievable. Just got back from a weekend on the road 2 break the 500 mile curve & now have an issue with the A8 upshifting correctly when I do high accelerations. Will it never end!

Nothing changed. I just have a OBD2 scanner from last car.. BUT driving hard yesterday testing it, it seems to not do it at all anymore. Some weird fluke

Said over boost because superchargers don't have a Wastegate that regulate psi. If the air is cold and thicker the car will boost higher. Granted it's like a psi or 2 at most. Data log showed about 10psi with some jumps to like 12psi.. Normal amount. So no where near any over boost. Maybe just a Lil bit of water or bad gas in the line that day..

Official 2015 C7 ZO6 Corvette Issue and Resolution Thread

CandyZ06...wondering if the behavior is normal...there is a ton of programming that went into that transmission...it tries to anticipate your next move...I've heard it's rather brilliant on the track under aggressive driving...of course, we might expect different behavior on the street while driving aggressively.

So many variables, including driving modes. Hope your dealer can sort it out to your satisfaction,

Anyone had issues with the air conditioning vent closing when air is on high? Dealership ordered new vent but they will have to take the dash apart to replace it. Am I going to have extra problems when they do this? Texas is hot and I am going to need that vent pointed on me full blast this summer. To fix or just prop open?

#296 ·
That is a tough call, but I would let them do the work. You might do a little homework first on the dealership that will be doing the work, just in case they don't have a good track record in repairing Corvettes. Ask in the regional forum that has other Texas owners and see if anyone there can provide you with their experiences with that dealerships repair work.

I too have had this problem with the center console monitor. It would flicker with horizontal bars, flash, dim, and sometimes just go completely dark. It was off and on, intermittent and very distracting while driving. When opening or closing the secret compartment, it would occasionally clear up, but eventually even that did not work. I suspect the flex monitor cable having to bend while the door opens has a pinched or loose wire. Heading to the dealer tomorrow. Mine is a Jan 2014 C7 with 10,700 miles on it.

The Chevy dealer did a great job on ordering the new Delco center console display (it's not the same part number, but a totally new update) and it works flawlessly. The dash pull, and swap out took 2-3 hours, and it's just like factory now. Very pleased. Hope this doesn't happen to too many other owners of 2014 C7's, but if it does, it's an easy fix with the newly designed part.

Flashcube, glad to read your monitor is now picture perfect :D Would you mind looking at your service write-up and posting the new Delco center console display part number along with the explanation on the form if it adds any new information? Thanks!

video and back up camera issues

Had similar issues with my C7 Z51 3LT.
Dealer replaced console screen and whined about how difficult it was, good news, it works fine. Part number is the same as the original.
Still have problems with backup camera. Have taken to dealer several times, they seem to cringe when I show up and I'm not a complainer, just want my stuff to work properly.
latest report goes like this. "date 5/14/2015 service rear camera message came on display-intermittenly when in reverse the image on screen shakes.
see tac case 71-1373578784. conclusion:believe this is normal for fault to set without engine running and there is no repair for this"
I videoed this instance on many occasions to show the dealer whats going on.

BTW, i ask for a 2015 monitor and was told no part number change for the 15 over the 14 model.
If I knew how to post my latest video, I would. It is from yesterday May 18, just 5 days after.

Any help would be appreciated.

I love my vette and only hope this minor annoyance can be resolved before I back over a child because I couldn't see them because the video was shaking so bad.

This is normal? I don't think so.

Regards,

Jim

Supercharger Failure

The Supercharger on my Z06 failed about one week after I took delivery and driving about 560 "break-in" miles. During the Easter weekend, after driving for about an hour, I got out of the car while the engine was running and heard a terrible racket coming from the engine compartment. The noise was not noticeable from inside the car. Since it was late Saturday evening, there wasn't anything I could do but close the garage door go inside and cry. The next morning, Easter Sunday, I left a message on my Chevy salesman's phone. To his credit, Daniel called me right back and suggested that I run a diagnostic check through OnStar. The check indicated all systems were "green". At that point I arranged for my car to be transported back to the dealership. Within a few hours of arriving at the service department, I was informed that the supercharger had failed and that Chevy would be replacing it under warranty. The service rep said that it was probably a bad unit from the factory and that it just took a few miles to self destruct. Within 5 days, I had my beautiful new Z06 back and it's been running great since. Has this happened to anybody else?

Glad to hear that GM took care of you and you have now had over 1,000 fun filled miles with your Z06!

I haven't been able to get an answer on how this happened. The excuse given by the service rep was that it was probably a bad unit when installed at the factory. My salesperson took a picture of the unit after removal of the cover. It was obvious that the fins had been contacting each other, but it didn't look like any pieces had broken off. I have the same concern that metallic pieces may have been ingested. The service rep assured me that the supercharger has an "air dam" that will prevent that from happening. Really? I'm still suspicious. In any event, I've put on another 1500 miles since the failure without any problems.
