At the request of several of you... This will get all of the issues together in one location and allow other owners and would be owners to learn about the issues that owners are experiencing or discovering.

What's allowed:

Factual accounts of issues you encounter as a real owner of a real car. Provide as much detail, pictures, and documentation as you are able to talk about the issue.

Factual accounts or updates regarding resolution of issues that you or your dealer provided to solve a problem with your Stingray. If you solve a problem and post a separate update, please edit your original post that it was resolved and reference the post with the update if possible.

What's not allowed (This will be strictly enforced):

Anecdotal comments about first year models.
Comments about other model year Corvettes (even if they may relate to current equipment.)
Stories or issues you read about on other forums.
Posting about a problem "your friend" had with their car.
Posting that "your car is fine" or "I didn't have that problem."

The intent of this thread is to collect data and provide information for people who own a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Hopefully we will see both problems and resolutions and allow a place for folks to learn how to deal with issues that they encounter. If you can provide content information (equipment group, options, etc.) about your car that would be welcome. If you can provide photos of the issue or video of the behavior, that would be welcome. If are willing to post your VIN number, that would be helpful so that others with VIN's in a nearby range can relate.

Let's see if we can keep this thread on topic and make it a useful place for new and would be owners to learn what is going on.

I have already found 2 issues with the onboard computer. I am experiencing the same issue with the missfire code (ECM P16F3). According to my source who is tied in with the GM Performance Team, there are a number of new stock Corvettes experiencing this same issue. GM is aware of it, and is doing the research to try and identify the cause. It is not bad gas. I am running 104 octane racing fuel and still get this code. GM suggest checking the wiring and connections as already posted. But this is a known problem. GM did give us a new CAL that we flashed in to fix it 2 weeks ago, but it still happens even after the CAL flash. I will keep you posted as this develops. ECM P0171 was also being thrown. I am still waiting response back on the this one. Next appointment is June 9. I will update with the results.

Air dam? I would also like to know more about that too. It might be worth changing the oil with a magnet laying in the catch pan. Of course that assumes that those twin screws are ferrous. Otherwise, slowly pouring the waste oil into a recycle container might show up any metal residue laying in the bottom of the catch pan.

2015 Z07 Coolant Leak....

All,

Anyone had an issue a coolant leak in a 15' Z06 or Z07?

I ran her pretty hot. Cooled her down by driving sanely, parked in in the garage. Next found her leaking. It drained the reservoir.

Leak is somewhere on front of engine on the passenger side.

All hoses look ok.

Any help is welcome.

Thx,

JT

Is it condensate from your air conditioning compressor? When I ran my Z06 yesterday (a wam day), noticed when I came back later a puddle on the ground passenger side, under the motor, that was compressor condensate?

We had some pin hole leak issues with 2014 Z-51 & base model cooling systems, but I have not heard of those issues with 2015 models. If the leak is not apparent you will need to get a leak down test to determine its cause & location. Did you happen to note engine temps while you were "running her hot"? One thing for sure, don't let that radiator coolant level get to the point where you get a terminal overheating situation and ruin your engine.
As a afterthought I seem to remember a forum member that had an overheating problem that was fixed by replacing the expansion tank. Apparently there is a valve in it that can fail.

Z06 Issues

I have had my Z06 for 3 months. It has been in the shop for warped rotors twice. Now my flex plate is broke in two pieces and they can't get the bolts to install a new one. My body lines are off in the front and back of the car, including the drivers door. The local Chevy garage does not want to adjust the body panels for fear of screwing it up. The car has been in the shop for three weeks. The area Chevy rep is coming to look at the car on Friday. Has anyone else had similar issues as me, or did I get the lemon? Thanks

Sounds like you took one for the team.

I'm very sorry to hear this and can appreciate how disappointed you are.

Sounds like your local dealer is in over their heads but I suspect when the GM Rep hits town, things will start improving rapidly.

As others have suggested, there is no harm in beginning to lay the ground work for a lemon law claim. Begin by educating yourself. The State of Michigan has Lemon Law info available on line here and here.

Best wishes on a full resolution to your satisfaction.

Knock on wood, absolutely no issues here either. Could, have been the first car made on a Monday or Tuesday after a Holiday Weekend. Sorry to hear the tough news and feel for you, I personally believe they will make it right with you, there are way too many good stories with this car to date. Good luck to you.

I ordered my car in March and it was built in April. I don't think there was a change over issue. I too went to the BG factory. I talked to an engineer. The issues I discussed with him should have never happened. I suggested to my dealer to send it back to BG and let them fix it. All my issues are document at the dealer and the Chevy customer service center. My summer is only 4 months long. I will be seeing snow in September.

There are 5,000 parts on a Corvette, supllied by over 100 different manufacturers. There are typically 50 model year changes (some as small as a part being changed by 0.01 millimeters). Then there are are the announced new and improved options and systems, etc.

Daniml, could well have nothing to do with Plant employees. In fact that odds are that "early model year adjustments" are not worker created, but upgrades and improvements.

No issues with my '15 Z06/Z07 either, best car I've ever owned and all of my prior/current cars/trucks are imports. Granted I've only put on 2500 miles since May, but holy moley I lust for the red light at intersections and the first in line so I can floor the muther! Be glad you've got the privilege to drive the best car around!

Asked to post this by member, regarding an issue he has with his A8. A simple software update resolved his earlier problem fully, as per below.

krauty said:
Had a problem with the trans on my A8. Felt like a shutter rpm went up and down, up and down up 1,500 RPM's. It was so bad I thought I would have to call a flatbed. Got home by manualy shifting and shuttering stoped. Took it to Schumacher Chev in Lake Park, FL, and they found an update for trans software number. On my repair order, it is "2810175 :transmission control module reprograming with sps."

Don't know if this will help anyone else, but they said they are having the same problem with the Silverado with A8, and this is the first Vette they have heard of with the problem. Told me the trans will now have to learn my driving style. I baby the car and it is my daily driver, and this problem only happened when I had to floor board it for the first time to get out of the way of a tractor trailor on I-95.
Thanks "krauty" and so glad you figured out how to get to your dealer and they were able to fully fix your A8 problem. Thanks also for sharing this.

I have a 2014 Z51 with 10,000 miles Having similar intermittent problem with my AC sometimes the ac quits putting out cold air and if I shut it off and turn back on it seems to correct itself. It keeps blowing air when the AC is not working and you feel the humidity inside start to change. Did you ever find a fix to this problem. Would appreciTe any thoughts in the regard.

#343 ·
Suggest you take it to your dealer. There have been several software updates that resolve issues with the AC system.

Problem with my radio in the new 2016 Z06. At approx. 700 mi. Everything working normal when I parked and went into the health club. When I started the car to go home I got a message from On Star about their route planning service and my radio quit. My display said "no phone detected" and was unable to get the XM radio or any other band to play. also unable to change the display. Took it to the dealer but they didn't have time to check it with their computer so I took it home. Since my computer does crazy things and has to be re-booted to correct this activity, I thought I'd disconnect the battery to re-boot the car system. Worked like a charm. Radio and display all normal now. The dealer said I dumped the fault code when I disconnected the battery so we can't determine what went wrong. If it happens again, I'll leave it till the dealer can diagnose the problem. Has anyone else had this malfunction?

Welcome to our forum racats. Glad the battery re-boot resolved your issue.

I am having a problem with my 2015 Z06 electrical system. I have approximately 2800 miles on my car now and the last time I drove it was last weekend. I went to start the car this Saturday and the battery was dead, only a few clicking noises when I tried to start the car and numerous electrical messages appeared in the display ( ie theft deterrent system error, reducing drain electrical drain on system). I put a charger on the system overnight (charged for over 14 hours). This morning removed charger tried to start it the same problem ( also please note that all dash lights, messages radio, worked perfectly). I put the charger back on and this time it barely started, charging on dash said it was charging normally. Cut the car off after 5 minutes and the same problem reoccurred. Any ideas, will try to restart it and take to Chevy dealership in morning.
